My dad has one of these that I bogart every time I visit my folks to help with an outdoor project and I love it, so I figured it was time for me to get my own. • It's heavy enough to keep me warm (but not too warm) and it's light enough to move around in. • It's super comfortable. I normally wear a 2XL but after reading the reviews that say that these run large for their size I got an XLT, and it fits me perfectly (I'm 250lbs, 6'2" for reference). • There are a lot of pockets for me to hide things from myself. • The lining is very comfortable. Ordering a "used, mint" (which I had never seen before) jacket saved literally 50%, and I cannot tell the difference between the used and new, so if you're as cheap as I am and see a "used, mint" or "used, like new" jacket available then jump on it. I totally recommend this if you're looking for a high-quality jacket ... show more

…so knew it would fit big, and XLT was perfect for my 6' 2" 220 lb. frame. Roomy enough to bulk up underneath, and without the problem so many other clothes I'm faced with have, that of being short-sleeved with an outstretched arm. Haven't had to wear it in weather yet, but I know it won't do much good below 20-30 degrees. That has been tested. I've also tested its waterproof capability by letting water soak in a small spot on the sleeve, and it held up great. It would take extended time in horrible precipitation to dent the shell on this baby. Your pets won't do it with their claws, either. Tough jacket, built for time. Stiff, as others have noticed, but I was so prepared for cardboard that I was pleasantly surprised by the stiffness degree. It'll probably be broken in by the end of the winter (I just got it) which means maybe 6-8 weeks. Color is a nice rich brown, on the verge of mustard but blessedly not crossing that line. Having trouble zipping it up, of all things, a minor inconvenience as I sooner or later get it done. It's a heavy-duty zipper, natch, being Carhartt and all, but it is so far a the only stiffness on the jacket I've been unable to be happy about. The thing isn't going to win any beauty pageants, but if you like a good solid working man's jacket that you can keep for a while, this is a real good one. Ideal between 35-55 degrees, rain or shine. This jacket is amazingly warm. It was 10 degrees farenheit the other day and the only thing that was cold at all was my legs and face. The tall size is perfect because I have really long arms and a long torso. It is almost impossible for me to find long sleeves that are long enough without being 4 feet wide but this jacket is perfect. I ordered a 2xl tall first and had to exchange for the xl tall. It is still a little big and loose fitting but I like it like that. The inside is really soft and comfy. The sleeves are like polyester or something inside which is nice if you have a long sleeve shirt or hoody underneath because you just easily slide in and out of it. The only thing I think could be better are the pockets. They are in the front like hoody pockets and they are not lined with anything, just made out of the canvas type material that the outside of the jacket is made of. That said, it's not enough to stop me from saying...I love this jacket! ... show more

I saw reviews that said this runs large so I got a size smaller but got the “tall” option because people said it might be too short when lifting your arms. This is for my husband for work and he is 5’9 about 200 lbs and it fits perfectly. Glad I went for the tall option, just to cover his midriff when lifting his arms. Amazing material, durable and warm, the inside is a nice, soft, cushiony material. Zipper is big and durable. Outside pockets in good place and inside zipper pockets are perfect. Hood is definitely big enough to cover head but not too large. All in all it is an amazing product and I would absolutely recommend to anyone I know, especially if you or someone you know works outside some of all of the time. I’ve used carhartt products for many years they are tough and great value . I use the heavy duty jacket and the medium duty hoodie that’s more like a tough industrial strength regular jersey hoodie . This last time though I ordered a hoodie that more along the material used in the heavy duty jacket .what I don’t like is that material is just so stiff it hinders movement. This is the jacket I've been looking for. Sturdy material. Hugs the waist and wrists to keep the cold air out, but roomy enough to wear a hoodie underneath if need be. I'm 6' 5", weighing in around 265. I purchased an XLT and a 2XLT, to make sure it fit like I wanted. I could have kept both, but I gave the 2XLT to my father and kept the XLT. Here is my opinion on both sizes. If you plan on wearing a couple of underclothes, go with the 2XLT. If you're like me and only wear a single shirt underneath, go with the XLT. (I shed all jackets when I get indoors). Both are plenty long enough (sleeve length and jacket length). If you're tall, you know what I mean. I live in the South, so a jacket like this will not be worn much. We had a fairly cold Winter (coldest got down to 15 degrees), so the jacket came in handy several times. This jacket will definitely keep you warm. It is also very stiff, but from other reviews I have read, it will loosen over time as you wear it. I can't comment on if it saturates when it gets wet.
