I wouldnt be exagerating if I said I had 8 Carhartt coats for every season and then some! I seen this coat was almost a 100 dollars off and I thought I wonder why when all the other colors are almost 200$. I really liked the color and went for it. GLAD I DID!! Its the best coat I have bought yet! Its auper comfy andbit knocks all the wind bigtime and its SUPERDUX!!! Pockets of many and the hood is TOP NOTCH!! I have been wanting a real good hooded coat and I found it! This thing is unbeatable.I live in the Chicago area and am an electrician for the state and this coat will be very handy!! I’m 5’8” and 185 and the medium fits just right. Also tried the large but was swimming in it even with a long sleeve hoodie and Antigua vest underneath for layering so kept the medium instead. Wore it this past week in 40-50 F, rainy weather. The coat is warm without it feeling overly heavy or bulky. Might not even need to layer at all given the insulation. Also able to wear it comfortably while driving and still have good range of motion. A bit tight in arm holes while wearing a thick hoodie under it, but able to wear a casual v-neck sweater and polo under it just fine while driving to work. Got the greige - a good neutral color that was $50 cheaper than the black or coffee brown. Glad I got a great deal on such now a comfortable Carhartt coat.

I'm not a jacket guy. I hate how they look, I hate carrying them around, and even when I lived in New York (I'm now in Florida), I'd be the guy walking around in 20 degree weather with a hoodie or light windbreaker. But that comes with a cost - people feel the need to judge you on the street. And as I was heading up to Canada for a business event, the last thing I wanted was to be called out for my lack of jacket in front of clients. So I bought this. I could not be more pleased. It's definitely a big, winter jacket. It's not egregiously heavy, but it's not light by any stretch of the imagination. Still, I was amazed at the ratio between how effective it seems to be at keeping my warm and comfortable ... and how manageable it is from a weight/bulkiness perspective. It also very stylish -- maybe not red carpet stylish, but something that looks striking and flattering while walking down the street. The tapering is also very impressive; though it's big, it doesn't have that "boxy" effect and contoured from my shoulders to waist reasonably well. Again, it's something you can wear on a night out to the bars or movies and not look ridiculous. And due to the warmth and insulation, I'd imagine you could wear this to a ski resort as well. Buy this jacket.

Durable. Insulated. Lots of pockets. I’m 6’1 225 in decent shape and a large tall fits great. (Allows for a hooded sweatshirt underneath too.) I have been tempted to buy a high-end puffer or high-end rain shell but couldn’t imagine shredding it just doing normal day to day work. Then I found this jacket. Perfect outer layer for very cold windy days (maybe for me only wear it on under 20 degrees F days or colder). Easily slips over other layers. My wife thinks this black coat looks groomed/trimmed enough for casual outings if needed too.

I wanted a warm coat that would protect me from the cold, rain and wind. I just wore this in 0 degree weather, give or take, for the last 2 weeks and it was great! At 325lbs and 5' 11", this coat was a little bulky around the waist but for my shoulders perfectly. It has a good hood but it annoys me by the way it falls when I don't use it. Against the back of my head. If I reposition it, it's fine. Good purchase!

Be ready for winter. Really. I am an extremely old woman. My adult son is stubborn and thinks he's tough. We have had mild winters. My son's old canvas Carhartts are too big now, so he has gotten by with lighter jackets and hoodies. Being an oracle, or just seeing a lot in the past, I saw a bad winter coming one day, I wrestled him into allowing this expensive coat for a Christmas gift. He was pretty happy to have that coat when he was comfortable in the recent -12° weather. He reports that it is windproof and warm even though lightweight. I am extremely happy not to be scrambling around trying to find winter gear when everything is gone. He likes the complements he got at work as well. But that's an old people's thing. Hard times always come, you have to be ready. It must be great not to know what's ahead.
