heavy duty carhartt standard. They don't have much stretch, and not much room in the crotch when you're squatting down. I got them in black to hide stains and grease /dirt from work but they end up getting and looking dirty very easily and if you have a dog- FUGGEDABATIT. Dog hair sticks to this material like white on rice. Pants are thick, and do not breathe at all - not for summer work wear.

Update: Just took these up in the mountains and used them hiking/fishing. It was mostly cold in the 50s and rainy the time we were there and only hit 75 one or two days. In the 75 degree weather my legs were sweating while hiking. I switched to shorts. But where they shine is in the cold weather. I wish I had taken 2 pairs. So for summer I will definitely not wear these pants. But winter time they will be prime time. Great fit, thick and rugged. Again not made for SoCal summers. TAPERED LEG! YES!!! These pants are awesome. I purchased these for camping and home repair. I just wish there was more than just 3 colors. At least a dark brown would be cool. They are thick so summertime will be an issue. Otherwise great pants.

I have several pairs of Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Rigby Five Pocket Pant. I like them very much but wanted to try these "straight" leg comparable pants. The product is well made, the color is nice, but the fit is too snug in the waist. Of course you can buy a larger size to remedy that. The second issue is the 5th Pocket - on the straight leg version the zippered pocket is inside the left front pocket (which may lead to the snugness in the waist) and the pocket is too small to hold a phone (I have an iphone 6s). The third issue is the curious cut/stiching on the front of each pant leg - above and below the knee there are "darts" which are extra stiches about 2 inches in from both the left and right seam. These extra stitched areas are not just for looks but appear to alter the shape of the pant leg. Overall, a perfectly nice pair of pants, but I chose to return them. Note for virtually all pants I'm a 32x32 but I buy the Carhartts in 33x32. Thus, the 33x32 straight leg feeling tight was somewhat surprising.

I bought two of these a couple years ago and was pleased to find that the fit was exactly the same. I appreciate that these don't have huge billowing legs as virtually every 'work pant' I've tried in recent months. This in itself makes these a rare pant. I would say that I don't find these to be as durable as you'd expect. The fabric feels robust. I've been surprised to see a hole develop within 6 months of use where the lower corners of my phone sit in my pocket, as we as an area above the left knee which doesn't seem to correspond to any activity I perform. Despite this, I still like these pants and will happily buy more.

Jobsite work runs through your time, materials, body and of course, your clothes. Pants are regularly worn through, cut open or just worn out. Carhartt is a reliable brand in working apparel but now I know they are the only brand making pants to solve this exact problem. These pants are triple threaded at the seams and waistline with additional hemming at the knees to keep them from stretching or tearing when your up and down all day. A zip up compartment above the front left pocket was incredibly useful for my wallet, drill bits, small specialty parts and even business cards for quick but safe access. Belt loops are strong and pant cuffs are heavy enough to stay over your boots without weighing you down. So after some long hard use in the field, up and down stairs, back and forth thru houses then there and back again thru mud, rain and all the elements we all fight out here, I can tell you that they have lasted better than any other work pants I've bought before them, and will undoubtedly be the ones I buy from here forward. The new standard for a man that ruins more clothes for work than he owns in his personal time.

I guess I have a tiny fear that these will run out of inventory so I'm going to stock up. Given that there's always a chance they'll stop making these, I want to thank Carhartt for mostly using schlubby model-pictures; they hide how great these actually look and feel.

My husband works in carpentry and really likes the fit of a slim pant rather than a wide leg. His only quip is that it has a 5th pocket near the left and to him, it feels awkward. Other than that, he prefers these over the others he bought from the actual Carhartt website and store. He will definitely be ordering more
