In light rain, the water does just beads up, and does not soak into the fabric, even after an hour or so out in the rain. It is fairly quick to dry as well. The material is extremely thick. I bought my usual size, when trying to put it on due to the thickness of the fabric, its a bit of a struggle, but there is plenty of room to wear even a sweater under it. The neck hole is a little tight, but again perfectly fine once on. The hood is the is just shy of being deep enough for me, but on the other hand the periferable vision is amazing while still providing coverage. The kangaroo pocket is more than generous enough to fit a heavy pair of winter work gloves or keys or anything else you can think of. There is also a small storage pocket inside for your keys or anything you don't want to risk falling out.

Great fit in addition to warm. Plus the material is noticeably different since it repels water better. Feels like new sweatshirt tech, but keeps that rugged but comfortable feel only Carhartt hits the mark on. Excellent sweatshirt. Great gift idea. Just awesome

I was surprised how heavy it is. It feels just as heavy as a good leather jacket. Insanely warm. I would not wear this for to go for a jog or anything extremely active as this is going to make you sweat a lot and since its meant to be used in " light Rain " conditions it wont be very breathable. Its perfect for camping or hanging around the fire and a cold winter day. I wore this over a shirt in 33 degree weather and i couldnt feel the wind at all.

These come in different weights make sure you get the right one. Heavy is the thickest sweatshirt I've owned. Medium is regular weight. The only downside is the neck sizing. It's kind of tight. I have an 18" neck.
