I bought the Carhartt Men’s Rain Defender Loose Fit Heavyweight Sweatshirt not because I work a rugged blue-collar job, but because I am a dedicated hipster who respects the aesthetic of hard work. Did I buy this hoodie to brave the elements on a grueling 12-hour shift? No. Did I buy it because it pairs perfectly with my overpriced thrifted jeans and ethically sourced oat milk latte? Absolutely. From the moment I put this bad boy on, I felt more blue-collar—even though the closest I’ve been to manual labor is assembling an IKEA shelf (and even then, I needed the instructions).
