For whatever reason, I could never find the sleeve length of Carhartt coats. I wear a medium with sleeve length of 35. I was looking for a medium-tall but this coat did not come in that size and I knew a large would be too big (I'm 180 pounds and 6'1") so I decided to give the medium a go. I was quite surprised that the sleeve length was at least 35" even after washing. I bought this coat in 2 sizes for my husband for this Christmas. Definitely buy a size down. It runs large. (I had my son try it on as he is just a little bigger than my husband.) I had to return the bigger size, but I also had to return the smaller size because we couldn't get it unzipped all the way. I exchanged the coat and got another one. The zipper still is difficult to use. I kept this one for now as I read some reviews that said it sort of needs broken in. We'll see. If my husband has trouble with it when I give it to him, then it will go back after the holidays. Otherwise it seems nice. ... show more

this is a great jacket. not too hot, but warm enough for what I wanted (dog walking in 50 - 60 degrees). I originally ordered a 3XL as that's the size i wear. I read the reviews that said to "size down" as they run big ... I still ordered a 3XL assuming I could wear a hoodie or flannel under the jacket if i needed to. Well, I was absolutely swimming in the 3XL. I returned it for the 2XL and can still fit a hoodie under it if needed, but it fits great. ... show more

My last Carhartt jacket was a large and was a little snug so I opted for an Xl this time around. Being that it’s a loose fit the xl is a little baggy even with layers, I’m 6’1 235lbs and might have gotten away with a large if that helps anyone with deciding what size to get! I’m very pleased with the quality of the jacket as expected my last Carhartt lasted the test of time and didn’t want to part with it but was forming holes and fraying after 15 winters! This is my first Carhart coat, and I am really glad I bought it. I live in the Pacific NW and we have winter here with snow and temps as low as below 0F often during the winter. I wanted a coat that offered protection and warmth from the elements, but not something that would make me sweat if worn indoors or when not as cold outside. This coat is perfect. I get too hot very easily, and too many coats I have purchased are just too warm and I have to take them off, get cold again, then put them back on, etc. I can wear this out the door on the way to work, and leave it on all day while inside, and still be warm when going outside to head home for the day. That seems to be the reality of buying a winter coat online. I bought a different brand and sized down a whole size (XL --> L) but that coat swallowed me. Returned. I purchase a Medium size for this coat. I'm 5'8" / 190#. This fits perfectly. Arm length, shoulder room, all is good. Very warm.
