  • Wonderful coat - comfy, warm, quality. Best gift a parent could give to a college student.
Size: Small Color: Carhartt Brown
As others have said the product was a size down than normal. I typically wear medium things and got the small. The waist is perfect especially with the taper from the cloth ruffles. The sleeves stop at the waist and the cuff things go 2” past so also perfect. The jacket is very warm. I wear it alone down to freezing maybe a bit lower, with just a t shirt. The jacket is a bit stiff in materials and it is very spacious despite being a small (read: I could fit another jacket and sweatshirt UNDER it; and could not fit the Carharrt under my winter parka because it was so Volumeous). I love it. It looks smells feels works great. Inner and outer pockets are spacious and wonderful. The velcro sticks to the inner material which makes me regret the quilted design. The zipper is kinda poopy in that it doesn’t zip/unzip very well, as well as feeling kinda plasticy. I’ve ripped a fingernail on it by not being careful and hurt my cuticles a few times. Here’s my ratings. In terms of this being my first carhartt, I am 10/10 satisfied with it. I’m so happy to have something so sturdy, warm, fashionable, and fun to wear. In terms of understanding the quality behind things - I feel guilty giving it less than a 10 but the zipper is kinda dumb and the velcro pocket isn’t my favorite. So we’ll say 8/10 on those regards. If we factor in delivery and packaging and presentation out of bag (no loose or torn threads; the material isn’t creased; it loosens up some in flexibility) then I’d give it a 10/10. I love my new coat. Will upload pictures shortly. ... show more

  • Carhartt for the win!
Size: Small Color: Black
This is an amazing jacket. I needed a nice, heavy winter jacket for the cold and windy coastal Santa Cruz weather after moving to college, so I wanted something that would keep me warm but also look cute. This jacket is exactly what I wanted. I get compliments almost every time I wear it and now all my friends want one! Pricing: I don’t usually spend more than $30 on clothing, but I really wanted this jacket, so I decided to splurge a little. Plus, Carhartt is a reliable brand, so I know it will last me a very long time. I looked into a few other brands (Dickies, Patagonia, etc.), but I felt that Carhartt was a better fit for what I was looking for. I considered getting a jacket from Dickies ($139.99) that was close to identical, but I decided to go with Carhartt ($109) because not only was it more cost-efficient, but it seemed warmer and more stylish as well. Pros: The jacket is nice and warm without being too heavy and goes with almost any outfit. I also love that Carhartt tends to look even better with a little wear and tear over time, unlike some other brands. This way I don’t have to treat it like a new pair of white shoes and be worried about getting a little scuff or dirt on it. It is extremely durable, so if that’s what you’re looking for, look no further! Potential Cons: You should be aware that when you first get the jacket it may feel bulky and tough, but it is easy to break in. I washed it a couple of times according to the instructions on the tag and it is much better now. It was a bit big on me (as I was expecting), so I threw it in the dryer after I washed it and it did shrink a little bit, but definitely not too much. For reference, I am 5’2 and 110 lbs and I got the mens small. It is still a little big on me even after shrinking it, but that’s exactly what I was aiming for. The zipper can be a little sticky at times, but it hasn’t been a big issue for me so far. One thing you should know is that it is not waterproof or water-resistant. I wore it in the rain once and the water soaked right through the outer shell. Still not a problem for me though! Just thought I’d mention it. Overall: Overall it's an amazing jacket and is one of my favorite clothing items that I own. I don’t know how I went all this time without it! High quality, plenty of pockets, comfy, warm and stylish. I definitely recommend getting this jacket! ... show more

  • Great quality product but not what I am personally looking for.
Size: Small Color: Black
This jacket is super well made and does exactly what its supposed to do. I have to give it 5 stars for that as doing otherwise might mislead someone into thinking its not a great product. The item however was not exactly what I was looking for and that is only due to my purchasing it online and not in a store. This jacket is thick and bulky with a rough tough exterior. The model in the picture makes it look a bit slimmer than it might be to actually wear. I wear a small, and while the dimensions are correct the thickness and stiffness of the material makes the baggyness in the arms feel excessive. I think if you wear a larger size, the thickness to surface area ratio decreases making it more comfortable to wear. Just my idea. Like I said before the quality is great, feels indestructible. I love the lining, I wish I could get this lining in a hoodie jacket all throughout. The j140 only has the lining in the body if I recall correctly. The sleeves are a nylon quilt or something smooth so sleeves wont drag. I don't like to wear anything under jackets so this doesn't matter to me. I checked out carhartt's 3 season zip hoodie and tried that out after returning this one. It is like a hoodie jacket hybrid which I prefer so I don't look like i'm ready for winter when its just a little cold out. The lining is not as good though, nylon I think rather than flannel. If I could combine the best of these two items I would pay plenty. Maybe I overlooked that option on their website? ... show more

  • Nice thick jacket
Size: Small Color: Carhartt Brown
It’s a very nice quality, and heavy coat. It fits very nice and looks great. The zipper is smooth and the pockets are handy. In the cold it performs incredible keeping you warm.

  • Excellent jacket
Size: Small Color: Black
Comfortable, rugged, warm, has a cool looking fit... puffier and more voluminous than previous similar Carhartt jackets (J130, J25, J06) but shrunk after washing and softened up after breaking in. Definitely a different fit and look than what I was expecting, but it grew on me a lot... overall I think Carhartt nailed it with this jacket and I'd buy more. ... show more

  • Great Quality
Size: Small Color: Black
I am 5’4.5”, 160 lbs. and the Small size fits me best. I initially bought the Medium size, but it was way too thick on me. The zipper is a bit difficult to zip On and off, but i think it will get easier as I use it. Overall, I am very pleased with the build quality. It feels like I paid a premium price for this jacket. It doesn’t get much colder than 30 degrees in SoCal so I can’t comment on how well it performs, but so far it’s kept my upper body very warm. ... show more

  • Made for fat Americans
Size: Small Color: Black
Like all Carhartt products, this one assumes you are a heavily built individual. I had a size medium of this jacket that I got nearly20 years ago that served me well for many years, it was just overly large on me. I'm about 5'9" and 130 lbs, and I'm usually a size small, so that was to be expected. Unfortunately, the size small that I purchased is simply too short - the jacket just comes to my waist, and the hood is also excessively short - with the hood up, the full weight of the jacket rides on my neck rather than on my shoulders as it should. This causes neck pain after a fairly short time, as its not a lightweight jacket. Overall, this is a very nice jacket, but the poor sizing makes it hard to recommend for anyone slimmer than the average American ... show more

  • A True Workhorse
Size: Small Color: Dark Navy
This jacket is purpose-built for hard work and cold weather. The first day of snow in Michigan for 2020 and I wore this coat paired with a Carhartt vest and thermal shirt beneath and I kept me plenty warm. It also had enough space in it to move while working outdoors and also allow for proper layering underneath. The thick fabric kept out the wind and rain/snow/sleet. I have only worn the jacket once so far but you can tell it is a well-built jacket and should be able to withstand many years of hard labor. ... show more
