My 6'3" tall husband needed a new winter weight coat. This large tall size fit him well and I appreciate the two interior pockets. One is secured with Velcro patch in the middle and the other has a nice zipper across the whole top. It is a canvas coat, so the material is kind of firm to begin with, but that speaks to quality and craftmanship. I own a few Carhartt jackets and like them all, but this one deserves special recognition. It is warm with only a shirt in the 30° and up range. Under 30° and with layering (which it is cut for) you can take it down to 0°. The length will not ride up when you sit and the cuffs and waist keep the cold out. The hood is a perfect fit an not oversized as many are to fit a hardhat. Windproof and unless you are in a downpour (at which point it is probably too warm to wear) it is pretty water resistant for rain and snow. The zipper comes up high enough where you may not need a scarf, and it is not uncomfortable. You can wear the black one into a club and not look like you just got off a construction site and it's not the type of coat people will seek out to steal if you leave It on the back of your chair. One final thing, it can take a sh1t-kicking and the more you do - the better it looks! ... show more

I've had a lot of jackets, nice ones too, and this one tops them all in terms of comfort and warmth. I'm only 5'11, 180 lbs, but I ordered the Large - Tall because I hate it when jackets ride up above my waste when reaching overhead. The sleeves are a little long in the Tall version (according to Carhart it adds 2 inches to the length of the torso and sleeves), but the cuffs are elastic so they stay at my wrist and the extra length just bunches up a little and works perfectly fine. The Large at my height/weight leaves enough room for winter weather clothing underneath. It's a perfect size for me! Great jacket if you're looking for durability, comfort, and warmth! ... show more

These jackets are a must have. This is only my second Carhartt I’ve owned (first one I owned for 10 years before the zipper broke). The material was still solid even with a broken zipper, so these things last a very long time. Similar to everyone else, I highly suggest buying a smaller size than you would think. I originally got an XL ignoring that advice, and it was HUGE. I wear all my weight in my stomach and chest and I was swimming in the thing. It was also very short (initial buy was an XL regular, and it barely made it to my waist with my arms down). I refunded/replaced with a Large Tall, which hangs about 28.5 inches down from my shoulders, and perfect for me. These things are built like a tank. They’re quite stiff and resistant to a lot of abuse, but that is what I want with wood and steel working. They are completely worth it, and made in the USA. ... show more

What a well constructed jacket! I'm 6'6" and 205 lbs. The large tall was a perfect fit. The Carhartt.com web site states that this jacket is amongst the warmest that they sell and they aren't kidding. Not warm or warmer, but "warmest." No doubt that you will stay very warm in the most frigid weather. Here in South Carolina the winters are mild, usually no colder than the low 30's, so this jacket will handle the most brutal winters here. The hood is perfect and best of all, this beauty is made in Dearborn, MI, USA. Being next to Detroit, they know cold. The cotton duck outer shell is complimented by a polyester inner lining with nylon interlined sleeves. The duck is just superb and sure to last a very long time. Most definitely a 5 star jacket for either men or women. Just doesn't get any better than this. ... show more

In order to get the sleeves long enough we had to order the larger size, but this coat started out relaxed fit and it is really very big. Sleeves are fine but the body is huge. Also I had to wash it 10 times and dry with tennis balls and it is still very stiff. We've always had Carhartt but this one seems quite a bit more stiff and hard to break in than the others in the past. Good quality, only reason I gave it less stars is the fit because it is so big. My husband is 5'11" and 182 pounds and it fits like a tent. ... show more

Just the usual superb Carhartt quality. This coat is warm, tough, comfortable, and surprisingly good looking. I wear it on hunting trips AND to go out to nice places in my city. It looks as good today, many outdoor hiking and hunting trips layer, as the day I bought it a year ago. Brass hardware both looks good and is really durable. Oh, and as some reviewers are saying, it starts out really stiff. Trust me, a year later it feels like the most comfortable coat you've ever owned. Like good boots, you need to break this in. It's tough as nails, it has to start out stiff. I basically will only buy Carhartt outerwear these days for any serious function. No one but Dickey comes close on quality.
