To all those who have given this product poor reviews claiming poor performance: this product is mostly made of cotton. Yes, one can burn a hole through cotton with 2000-degree metal slag from welds. Yes, one can feel heat through 1/20 an inch of cotton fabric. Yes, a heavy cotton shirt offers no prolonged protection from walking into a wall of flames. I wear this shirt while loading a blast furnace. Along with full-face protection and appropriate gloves, I am momentarily (less than a second) exposed to 2000-degree flames blowing back at me which lick at my protective gear. To date, I've melted my hat, gotten some blisters around my wrists when something sneaks past the cuffs of the gloves and have in fact suffered a single burn through the cuff button area of the shirt. However, before owning this shirt, I was getting cooked on a regular basis. Get the right gear and have realistic expectations for the tools.

I'm 6'8 330lbs and broad shouldered - shirt is one of the few that actually fit across my shoulders, sleeves go all the way down, has enough length in body - only complaint is that the material is much, much heavier than expected - I returned the shirt, as it was summer time and wearing it would have been too much - will likely re-purchase and try again during winter months

I was a Dickeys fan boy, but after I purchased my first Carrhartt, I'll never buy Dickeys again. Everything about the Carhartt is more durable. The pockets are just the right size to put my phone and glasses in. They are longer so they have less tendency to pull out of my pants (I have a big belly). Fit is perfect. Love them.

Ok, I realize that most (if not all) FR clothing is on the heavier side of clothing. I had to purchase FR clothing for a job at a chemical plant and went with this one due to Carhartt, generally, being quality and was rather affordable compared to many of the brands I found on here. THE problem was that it was summer in south Alabama and this shirt does not breathe well. So, this shirt will be perfect in the fall and winter... I just don't recommend it for warmer climates. The fit is a little on the larger size, so watch out for that (if it will be an issue for you) but it was not an issue for me at all. It's comfortable, and moves with you in an easy way.

Just as described, very nice, heavy-duty shirt. Washes very well, and dries without wrinkles (even if you forget it in the dryer). Just a fantastic shirt for larger/taller men, as it does go well past the waist. My one major complaint is the black color is not a true black, it's quite faded and actually looks like a dark navy after a couple of washings. But I absolutely recommend this shirt!

I ordered these because the company I work for required and did not have any available. I have worn Carhartt shirts for years ( being a welder) I have always been very satisfied, these are worth the money and they wear great. If you need clothing like this keep in mind what your environment is going to be during wear. A larger size will accommodate a hoodie and still leave room for you to move as needed. I will buy more as I need them.

The price on these are ridiculous! I only purchased because I hoped it might at least limit burns my husband recieves while welding. The welding beads burn right through the shirt just like any other $20 shirt. Do not waste your money on these shirts! Any long sleeve shirt that is not flannel will help to minimize burns.

OK, I give up on Carhartt clothes fitting me @6 ft tall and 150# slender build. I have tried just about everything they make in a Small and I'm always swimming in it. So thin or skinny guys beware. I agree with someone who spoke of loose threads, particularly the button holes. Popped threads every hole when unbuttoning to try it on. Sleeves would fit an orangutan maybe, bunched up quite a bit, and I'm long in the arm. I usually have the opposite problem. The shirt otherwise is built like a Mack truck. Very heavy and course denim like, almost duck-like material their jackets are made of. This could pass as a jacket. I could not imagine this bad boy in the Summer down South. Forget about it. If your a big dude this is probably right up your lane. If you want something uber-tough, this is it. Shirt color was very sharp looking and rich. If it fits you you will be one sharp-dressed man. I wished it would fit me, for Winter use in industrial sites that is. I still need Fire Resistant clothing so i will try Bulwark out next.
