But then life hit me with something unexpected: a funeral. Not even for family—just a neighbor or coworker level event—but I realized I no longer owned “dress pants.” Like, none. Not a single pair. I checked the closet and it was all cargo shorts, work pants, and a pair of jeans that haven't fit right since my son was born. So I did what any burnt-out working dad would do: I bought the exact same Carhartt pants I trust with my life, but in khaki, because apparently that’s the minimum requirement for looking “put together” in public. Let me tell you, these things are exactly what I needed: Still rugged enough to unload a truck Still flexible enough to crouch in a walk-in cooler But in a color that says “Yes, I’ll sit near the front at Applebee’s tonight” I slapped on a clean polo, tucked it in, and suddenly I was the most overdressed guy at the funeral buffet table—short of the pastor. My wife said I looked decent. My kid didn’t recognize me. And I only adjusted myself like, twice. Honestly? If Carhartt makes them in olive, I might just round out the collection. These are my “respectable public appearance” pants now—whether it’s a funeral, a PTO meeting, or date night where I swear I won’t talk about inventory shrinkage. I ordered these pants not knowing what length. It was a birthday surprise so I just guessed and they were shorter than what he normally wears. BUT he loved them anyway and I ordered another in the right length! And it saves me a trip to return them.

Good product. Only 4 stars as I had to return the first pair. (Waist too small). I would recommend going up one size, i.e. if you normally get a 30-32 waist, go for the 34-36.

My husband loves these pants and says he would've given them a 5, except for the missing belt loops. It's not a mistake that they're not there either as he's gotten many pairs and they're all the same. Missing the front loops means he can't wear a belt unless I sew some on as a work-around. Super inconvenient, but he loves them otherwise so I do it. As far as the fit and so-forth, they're great, sturdy and look good too. They, unfortunately, don't come in a 42x36. 34" is as long as they get, but since he can't use a belt, they hang lower! smh ... show more
