  • P-H-E=N-O-M-E-N-A-L!!!
Color: Burgundy
I would preface this by stating that I'm just an average player, not a pro, by any measure. However, I've been playing pool for more than 5 decades, and have collected cues for the past 30 years. I've played lots of them, and they definitely differ, one from another. This is a full carbon fiber cue, and as a means of comparison I have five others, from various brands. They range in price up to many hundreds of dollars (though not thousands) each. This Rayspeed cue is simply outstanding. It plays better than anything I own, regardless of cost. It's very nicely made, and with the exception of one small factor I can say it's a spectacular value. More on that in a moment. The cue is available in a variety of colors (butt section, of course), all coming with the plain "naked" carbon fiber shaft. I chose the brownish-red grip, and it's beautiful looking, very much like mahogany. There is a Rayspeed logo on the butt section, but it's suprisingly understated, and subdued. I really appreciate that. Though I thought I prefered a wood grip with Irish linen wrap, I now realize I love the feel of this one. I have several others that are just a sort of glossy finish, but this one actually feels amazing in the hand. The joint has a plastic ferrule (a first for me), and an Uni-Lock style quick connection. The fit is excellent, and this is where the one issue I found came in. If you run you fingers up and down the cue, over the joint, it's not quite flush. It's not off by a lot, but I can feel that it hasn't been turned to the point where it's indistinguishable from the rest of the cue. It's certainly no big thing, but I did notice it. I will admit that this is the first time I played a plastic/resin ferrule, and it was great. But there's so much more to this cue. It's got a high-quality, laminated leather tip which plays incredibly well. The tip diameter is 12.5mm, and you get a spare tip (14mm) in the kit. There's also another shock: You get an high-quality hard carry case, with shoulder strap, and a large zippered pocket. It's really a nice case, and is embroidered with the Rayspeed logo. In the pocket you'll find the spare leather tip, a black billiard glove (closed finger tips; can be used right or left handed), along with a very high-quality carbon fiber butt extension. This is a beautifully made piece, and screws right into the butt section, using a bullet joint. I was so impressed playing this cue. I actually spent 2 hours with it, simply pocketing balls. It was a pleasure to play, and I can say that it outplayed other cues costing 3 times the price. Honestly, this is now the finest shooting cue I own. It's an awesome value, and frankly it's difficult to comprehend how this deal is possible. Treat yourself to this one. It's a fantastic deal. ... show more

  • Serious Cue Performance From Someone Who Actually Knows Pool
Color: Black
I’ve spent years in nightlife and have owned rock and roll venues where pool tables were part of the culture, not decoration. I know what a good cue feels like, and I know immediately when one is fighting you versus working with you. This Ray Speed carbon fiber cue absolutely works with you. First, the timing. The cue is currently about 30 dollars less than when I ordered it. That’s frustrating, but it’s a pricing issue, not a performance issue. This cue plays beautifully. The balance is dialed in, the hit is clean, and the low deflection is very noticeable. You don’t get that unpredictable kick or drift you see with cheap house cues or poorly tuned sticks. The carbon fiber shaft feels smooth and stable without being dead or overly stiff, and the 12.5mm tip gives excellent control and feedback on the cue ball. The Uni-loc joint connects solidly and cleanly. Once assembled, it feels nearly indistinguishable from a one-piece cue in play, which matters if you actually care about consistency. No wobble, no weird transition at the joint, just a smooth, confident stroke. The weight feels right. I also appreciate that this cue isn’t flashy in a cheesy way. It looks sharp, professional, and intentional. The included case, glove, and extension are genuinely useful additions, not filler accessories. The extension alone is clutch when you’re dealing with tight shots without relying on beat-up house equipment. If this cue had been offered at the current lower price when I ordered it, it would be a no-brainer value. It performs better than many cues I’ve used over the years that cost far more and makes the game feel controlled, confident, and fun. Bottom line: this is a legit carbon fiber cue that delivers real performance. If you know pool, you’ll feel it immediately. ... show more

  • Pool Cue That Doesn’t Fight Me
Color: Black
I want to be upfront that I am not a serious pool player and definitely not a pro. I’m a 54 year old over the road truck driver, and the only time I play pool is casually when I’m out with friends. One of my biggest frustrations has always been the terrible condition of most house cues. Warped sticks, loose tips, slick grips, and uneven hits are just kind of accepted as part of the experience. I’ve only had the chance to use this cue a couple of times so far, but the difference was immediately noticeable. It feels balanced and solid in the hand, and the grip is comfortable without being slick or awkward. I was honestly surprised by how natural it felt to line up shots and follow through. I wasn’t fighting the cue, which is something I usually don’t even realize I’m doing until I’m not anymore. What stood out most to me was how consistent it felt from shot to shot. Even as a casual player, I could tell that the cue responded predictably and smoothly. I was pocketing balls more cleanly and felt more confident taking shots I would normally hesitate on. It didn’t magically turn me into a pool shark, but it absolutely made the game more enjoyable and less frustrating. I also appreciate that it looks nice without being flashy. It feels well made and thoughtfully designed, not like a novelty item. Even with limited use, I can tell this is a quality cue that’s built to perform, not just look good hanging on a wall. For someone like me who plays socially and just wants a cue that works the way it should, this has been a great experience. It made pool fun again instead of annoying, and that alone says a lot. ... show more
