Capezio's Jr. Footlight shoe is perfect for any performance, whether it's character, theatrical, or you can even attach taps on its textured leather sole. The shoe features a traditional buckle closure for custom fitting, and a shapely, mid-cut heel that's just the right height. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes. The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance. Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide. See more

  • Size up for wide feet!
Size: 12 Wide Color: Black
Great quality as expected. I followed others advice and sized a whole size up for wide feet and I’m glad I did. Normally I wear a 11W but the 12W fit great. A little stretching was needed but that common for any leather shoe.

  • Order ONE FULL-SIZE Larger!!
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Caramel
Love the shoes but they aren't kidding! Order One FULL size larger!! than you NORMALLY wear. I thought well sometimes I can wear an 8.5 wide so I'll only order 1/2 size up. Nope! Had to exchange. Save yourself some time.

  • **FRIENDS WITH WIDE\FLAT FEET**
Size: 8 Wide Color: Caramel
Howdy, friends! I have very wide/flat feet and have tried multiple dance shoes previously and I can’t fit in them. I normally wear a size 7, but I went up to a size 8 in WIDE, and they fit PERFECTLY!! (Thank goodness!!) The heel height is just right, but the shoes are super slippery on our luxury vinyl flooring - hopefully it’ll grip better on real wood. I will use these next week for 1.5 hours straight of dance class, so hopefully I can update this. The buckle is small, but I was able to get them thread to secure them to my feet. The quality is exactly what I expect from this shoe at this price. They’re a soft pleather and I’m sure will stretch a little. The inside feels like felt, but very soft. I attached photos of the bottoms as soon as I took them out of the box. I saw previous customer reviews saying their shoes look beaten. Mine came with a minor scuff at the bottom, which is why I gave a 4 star. But I will definitely buy from this brand again as long as I can get it in wide! ... show more

  • Great product
Size: 8 Color: Caramel
These were so comfortable - immediately dancing in them with no problems.

  • True to size
Size: 8.5 Color: Caramel
I was told to size up but for me these are exactly true to size. I normally wear a 8.5 or 9, and ordered an 8.5, which I was later concerned about because of most reviews saying to size up 1 to 2 sizes more. They fit perfectly for me, but I do have narrow feet. I could have done a 9 to give me a tad more room but there were no 9s left and the 8.5 is fine. Overall these are true to size, and if they really ran small there is no way the 8.5 would fit me. I really think it comes down to if you have narrow/flat feet versus feet that are wide near the toes. I have flat feet that are narrow and don’t come out wide near the toes. ... show more

  • For me, 1/2 up was perfect (but almost too large!). Normally size 7.5
Size: 8.5 Color: Black
SIZE: I ordered both the Capezio Women's Suede Sole Jr. Footlight and the Capezio Women's Jr. Footlight Character. Both models fit me like the description from Capezio predicted (one like street shoe size, the other half a size up). I normally wear a 7.5. Luckily, I got free returns so that I could order several sizes and I did not have to rely on the review only, but I would recommend to order several sizes when you are unsure like me. For this one, half a size up worked for me, but it was on the big side. WIDTH: The shoe is quite narrow, which I liked because I have slim feet. Maybe that is why some people find it smaller than street shoe size or maybe the deviation from street shoe size is larger when you go up in size. One thing that is strange is that while the shoe is narrow and fit me, the band for the ankle was too wide. If you have thin ankles, you might need to make an extra hole in the fastening. FOOTBED: I preferred the footbed of the caramel colored shoes, which feel like (fake) leather. The black shoes have a soft bed from a fabric that feels almost like fleece and my feet sweat quickly in it. BALANCE: One issue that I have with all four pairs of Capezio shoes that I ordered (will return 3) is that the heel seems to be at a slightly different angle than the front part of the shoe. So when I have my toes/the ball of the foot on the ground, the back part of the heel does not touch the ground. When I have the weight on the heels, the toes/ball of the feet do not touch the ground - which feels very unstable. Maybe this is because these shoes must also work for tap dancing (they have a hole in the heel so that you can put a tap heel on it). I hope that the heel will not break because of the uneven weight distribution. I accept this, because the shoes are only 35 dollars. COMFORTABLE: Yes, the shoes are comfortable. I am not used to wearing heels and I tend to buy comfortable, high quality shoes (like ecco or clarks). But I needed danceable shoes that go with a dress, and these are good for that. These shoes are comfortable enought so that I can walk and dance in them. For ballroom dancing, I would prefer the ones with suede sole (which were not available in my size). The leather sole has a light perforation but I need to practice with it because it is so slick. COLOR: I preferred the black color although beforehand I had thought that the caramel color would go with more outfits. If you have pale skin like me, the caramel shoes do not look flattering. ... show more

  • Outperformed my expectations even when not broken in
Size: 7 Color: Caramel
I ordered one half size up as suggested, they were a little big in the back, but once your feet swell from dancing, isn't that what you want? I took these puppies literally straight out of the box right up on stage for a 3 hour dance rehearsal. I could not have been happier with how they held up without being properly broken in. The most ingenious part of these is actually the little notch taken out of the back of the shoe that would usually hit your heel. Why every shoe in the world hasn't done this yet is beyond me because it eliminates the rubbing and bleeding and blistering of the heel which is so common in too stiff shoes. At the end of the night my feet were a little sore, but NOTHING compared to what I was expecting, they're actually rather comfortable. The fuzzy coating on the inside of the shoes will make your feet sweat a little so just be aware of that. I love how low the heel is on this so no teetering issues. Buy these!!! ... show more

  • Very nice shoe
Size: 8.5 Wide Color: Caramel
The straps are not as sturdy as other ballroom shoes, I did have to fix the buckle slightly after a few weeks of having the shoes. Other than that, they dance well and seem like they will last for a while as a ballroom dancing shoe. They are very comfortable and I have gotten a lot of compliments on how they look. They slide well but the heel doesn't catch quite as well as I would like. ... show more
