A must have, they are so unusual. I have sixteen inch calves and I was able to zip them because I made them "slouch", there is no delusional able to squeeze seventeen inch calves into these (lol!!) They definitely need insoles, they are a little big in size if anything so I am very glad I did not go up a size as suggested for a more large calf circumference. Whew! Wore these out to a restaurant for about two hours, literally did minimum walking and my dogs were barkingggggg!!!! Def only wear to events you will not be doing any walking, dancing etc with minimum wear time. I give it 2-3 hours max.
