These bumper plates are great for being able to begin the deadlift. It is useful for people who want to begin the deadlift at 55 or 64 pounds (depending on the weight of your bar). This is perfect for people with past injury, people who want to perfect form, or just someone who likes to take things easy at first. The inside of the 2 inch hole in the center is steel lined so it is nice and durable and solid on the bar. The actual plastic/rubber part of the disc that provides the bulk of the weight is semi flexible which will save the floor from skuffs. Just be aware if you want to load other metal weights onto the bar these bumper plates will flex eventually. So if you want to add 25 or 35's on the sides you will need to add more bumpers to compensate if you start adding a lot of weight. Obviously when you progress to a 135+ weight just find a set of 45lbs bumper plates which will be thicker. These weights had a slight smell to them and an oily residue on the rubber part of the plate. While annoying at first it goes away relatively quickly. The dimensions of this plate are standard olympic size in all aspects. The plate is around 1 inch wide. All of these dimensions can be viewed in the photos I have uploaded to the review. This is a set of TWO (2) plates. Pros: *Standard Olympic 2 inch bar plate *Allows for beginners to start light on the deadlift. Cons: *Oily and smelly residue on plate out of the box(- 1/2 a star) Additional Considerations: Weights need to be added to bars in order to be used.     • Great for the Home Gym.
There isn't a whole lot you can review these on but I'll try. They work great for picking up and putting things down. They're fairly durable but I'm not one of those guys who are slamming weights down harder than I pick them up. I do simple Hex/Trap Bar and similar barbell exercises (deadlifts, shrugs, rows, etc.) on cheap gym mat while being pretty careful as to not be too rough on them. I have two different 2" barbells and these fit flawlessly on both. These are kept outside out of the sun and have been holding up well for at least 6-7 months. I did manage to chip/scratch one by dropping a barbell on it but other than that, don't do anything crazy and these should last for quite a while. These are great for a home gym. If you can get them while they run a sale, that's even better. ... show more

The price was great, weights have a heavy aroma (as if you were visiting your favorite tire shop). The rubber definitely isn’t high quality and has a bit of bend/play to it when racking on the floor (my 10s don’t do this). Can’t complain with the price paid though

Nice and solid number plates. They look nice and are easy to grip when picking up. They do however smell like cigars for the first couple of weeks.
