As consumers how are we to know when a seller tells us that their product is made of a certain material? Shoppers are learning that when a furniture manufacture says real wood that can easily mean that what was used to grind the sawdust for so-called MDF product originated from a tree. And who hasn’t bought a stainless steel item for their kitchen only to find out the fact that they only mean it only looks like stainless steel? And most famous of all is the word leather which these days almost always means a manmade product made of ground up recycled leather with such names as pleather or “bonded”. I’ve been learning that 100% cotton doesn’t mean that it is completely made of fibers from a cotton bush and nothing else, even though we are asked to pay a king’s ransom for some brands of sheets. To me these feel nice but maybe a little too smooth and shiny compared to what I grew up with or what some of the better hotels use as all-cotton sheets. I like my sheets to feel like cloth, which means they have at least some weave texture. These are really good and I can see why they are so popular and I have to weigh the price, which though higher than most people will ever spend on a sheet is still far lower than a similar sheet will cost is a department store or even at the membership club. Regarding the weight of the sheets, what is also described as the thickness, these are both heavy and thick. One easy way to compare brands is just look at the product weight in the description, these are a full pound heavier than another best selling brand of cotton sheets. And that’s not due to how they are wrapped-up, this company uses minimalistic materials and no wasteful plastic bag that will be thrown out anyway and not be biodegradable. Maybe they do go a little overboard patting themselves on the back how responsible they are but it seems they do walk the talk. I can’t write a fair review without mentioning the question of wrinkles. The simple short answer is if you dislike wrinkles so much you shouldn’t be considering all-cotton sheets, a truly non-wrinkle cotton sheet simply does not exist. And if you insist on buying these please don’t write about how you don’t like that they wrinkle – the seller describes that very clearly in their information column that these WILL wrinkle and the best you can do is remove them immediately from the dryer and if it really bothers you spend an hour ironing them. I’m not going to do that, I don’t care if my sheets look a little lived in, I’m not sure I could sleep if they were perfectly smooth and I had to worry about messing them up. I can put up with some wrinkling, that’s why I buy cotton sheets. There are some things I can’t live (okay sleep) with and one of them is when my fitted sheet pulls out and by morning it’s wrapped all over me. These have a stronger than average elastic band that runs all the way around the bottom sheet and tucks deeply under the mattress. No matter how active I am in bed they haven’t pulled out yet. I also like that the top sheet is long from head to foot so it too can be tucked in deep. A short sheet is one of the first signs of a cheap sheet. At the price I think I would prefer that the pillowcases have that envelope flap that tucks in to cover the end of the pillow. It’s not a big deal to me but it’s what I’m used to. When I decided to give up sheets made of plastic materials and look for all cotton ones I didn’t realize how difficult that process would be. I have several sets of California Den sheets and love them. They are soft and have less wrinkles than other cotton sheets i have purchased. They are good sized and seem heavy duty. My sets are over 3 years old and have no rips or tears as a previous buyer wrote about. I find them cool to sleep on and plan to buy another set as I think they are priced well for the quality. ... show more

These are very cost effective, high quality sheets that my very particular BIL recommended. They are smooth, well constructed, fit our tall mattress (16") easily. I like the tabs indicating top/bottom of the sheet - when you have elastic all the way around the fitted sheet, you all KNOW that's hard to find, and half the time you end up trying to put on the fitted sheet the wrong way. Are they as soft as the 15 year old cotton sheets they replaced? No, but those had been worn to the point where they were also tearing, so... I think some of that softness was age induced.     • Sheets look and feel great but top sheet is too short

I like these sheets very much except that the supposed 90 x 102" measurement of the top sheet is way short on the sides of the bed, a queen. I docked the rating one star for that. I measured the 90" dimension with the sheet on the bed and it appeared to be maybe 84". When you are in bed under the covers, there is not enough material to fully cover your body on the side. Over the years, I have never had a sheet set where that is the case. I did not return the sheets because, while the shortness is annoying, the sheets have a great feel and wash well and the blue design is very pleasant. I really like these sheets. They are 100% cotton, 600 thread count. They fit my bed and are very comfortable for sleeping. I like that there are tags designating the top and bottom of the fitted sheet. They do come out of the dryer wrinkled. But I always iron sheets and pillow cases anyway so not a problem for me. ... show more

I have been quite pleased with the California Design Den sheets for a few years now. I first saw them on sale for Prime Day 2019, and have purchased several sets since. They are soft and very comfortable year-round, and hold up well over time like those sheets we had growing up back in the 70's and 80's that seemed to last forever. Also important to me since I prefer darker colors, they are not see-through like so many other brands. If it wasn't for my GF's cat clawing and ripping a sheet every once in a while I'd probably still be using the original sets I bought 5 years ago. ;) I'm also pretty OCD and change sheets weekly so they hold up very well to multiple washes. One small point regarding color for anyone interested... The 600 thread count sheets in "Dark Gray" are much lighter than their photos suggest. I prefer a darker grey (more like charcoal) color, and their 400 and 800 count sheets are more true to the displayed color, but for some reason the 600 count gray are just a few shades lighter. For comparison I've attached a photo which shows the 600 TC "Dark Gray" on the left and the 400 TC "Dark Gray" on the right. The kitchen lighting in my photo makes the color difference seem less noticeable but trust me it's more dramatic in person (if these kind of things are important to you lol). If you're not sure which thread count to get, I suggest the 800 TC. I buy the 400 TC for my guest bedrooms and only purchased the 600 TC this one time because they were out of stock on the 800 TC during a sale. ... show more
