Was more expensive than some shields/sword kits but I needed it quickly. Sword sliding into shield was useful so I could hold it one handed. Shield was a little uncomfortable but it matched the costume well.

My 8 year old loves this!! I think it’s probably meant for a larger body, but he loves that it feels like “real” armor. It’s withstood some serious battle play and has held up well. I’m sure eventually the straps inside the shield will have to be replaced, but it’s a great buy for the price!

The shield looks nice. It's molded plastic and not too heavy. The sword was not the one shown in the picture. It is engraved with markings like shown in California Costumes Men's Roman Gladiator Adult, Black/Burgundy costume. The shield is not a dark gold, it's more of a bronze. I would not suggest anyone with forearms about 16 inches long because it will be too big. The sword is made of a plastic and is durable. It may bend slightly if you whack instead of swing. It's the perfect length and does not feel too long or too short and will allow you to swing it gracefully. As for the shield and sword, it doesn't seem like the one in the picture and I think that is because someone other than California Costumes sent it to me. The place that send it to me was Costume4Less so that might be why it wasn't the one in the picture. So if you are ordering, there may be a chance that you might not get the exact replica in the picture. Me personally, I like it because I'm not too picky about these things.

My 4 year old loves the Narnia stories and wanted a sword for his birthday. Bought him this one. It is easy for him to get the sword in and out and straps to his arm fine with a little creativity as the shield is a little big. Very sturdy.
