I chose this set of grommets because I needed a selection of sizes and I wanted a good quality grommet. I have tried the cheaper plastic ones and while I could MAKE them work, I really wanted a rubber type of grommet that would be easier to install and would better resist deformation and heat. When they arrived I inspected them and found them to be totally satisfactory. They were soft to the touch and easily installed in correctly sized holes. They provided good protection for wires passing through them and stayed firmly in place without softening from heat or hardening from exposure. I could buy a comparable grommet from the local NAPA store, but this set gave me the multiple sizes I needed at a much better price. So five stars for a good selection of good quality grommets....priced for good value. At this price, you can't go wrong... ... show more

These are your typical rubber grommets. Unlike other reviewers, I did not find any difference between these and other ones I have used since the late 1960's. They are pliable and well made, without any major mold seams. The set comes with standard donut shaped through-hole grommets and plugs. The larger plug type grommets can be cut through the plug area to pass wires through. This allows you to plug a large hole but still run wires through a much smaller opening in the rubber.     • Real rubber, real soft, real value!
Just to confirm what others have said... these are soft, pliable rubber, not plastic or a stiff rubber. There are several similar sets listed on Amazon, with complaints about the quality of the material used, mostly that they are not rubber or are a stiff, low grade, badly moulded material. I can not deny or confirm those complaints, as I have not ordered any of those sets. I ordered this set based on the reviews that stated they are in fact a soft rubber. I can confirm that, and they are well moulded, perfectly round and very pliable, easy to insert into a hole. Most of the flange grooves around the outside are sized for thin sheet metal. A couple are sized to fit a thicker mounting surface, but no more than about 1/8" thick. The seven sizes listed in the description as "RBG" have a thin membrane of rubber in the center hole. This is great for when the wire is much smaller than the available hole, just poke a hole in the rubber with something like an icepick, push the wire through and the grommet seals tightly against the hole. A very nice little set for the do-it-yourselfer. The rubber is very stable, flexible and tough. I have used this a BUNCH of times in the short time since I got it and whenever I run out of these I WILL buy more. I may even see what other products are available from this manufacturer as items like this are great to have on hand around the shop. Some of the plugs have no holes and you can punch whatever size you need to customize the application. ... show more

Bought this for restoring a miata, unfortunately it has I think metric sized holes, but was able to accomplish a "close enough" fit with ones included in this kit. I bought this kit specifically because it's supposed to have true rubber grommets, not those chintzy plastic crap you buy elsewhere. And it absolutely is true black rubber. They're soft and easily workable, and fit/look just like OEM. I also like that it has some blanks, though I would've liked if there were more of them. All in all great kit, which I won't mind having on the shelf for the next 10 years. ... show more
