    • The Specs of this Phone are LIES... But it's still OK
The media could not be loaded. When I saw what looked to be an S24 Ultra for so cheap, I knew I was not going to get the phone advertised. What I bought was a novelty; I wanted to inspect one of these "scam phones" myself. The first one I received was dead on arrival, showing only the "Welcome" boot screen and never loading into Android. After sending it back, I received a working unit and confirmed exactly what I thought; this phone is a lie. Almost every single specification is completely made up. Battery: 4000mAh (6800mAh Advertised) OS: Android 8.1 (Android 14 Advertised) CPU: 8-core MT6753 (Either 10-core Snapdragon 8 G2 or Helio P90 Advertised) 3GB (12GB Advertised) 64GB (256GB Advertised) 60hz IPS Display (120hz Advertised) Single Rear Camera (Camera Array Advertised) The phone does a good job trying to hide the actual specs. Android seems to have been customized to show bogus specs to the user, and it even artificially scales file sizes by 4x to make it seem like you're just filling up the "256gb" quicker than expected. Apps that can detect these sorts of things outright refuse to install and appear to be blacklisted by the system to better hide the true nature of the phone, though it's possible to reveal the actual hardware specs via a PC connected to the device in debug mode. The most hilarious, and potentially dangerous example of fake specifications is the fingerprint reader. The phone pretends to have an under-screen fingerprint reader, which I can confirm will unlock without even a real finger. If someone were truly relying on this for security without realizing it's a sham, it could be disastrous. The true specs are that of a mid-range phone from a half decade ago. That said, for the price it's not that bad of a phone if all you need is a device that looks pretty; it can make calls, browse Facebook and check emails just fine. The build quality, screen, and overall usability of the phone are honestly quite good. The included passive pen also work surprisingly well, though is fragile; mine was cracked out of the box and broke completely after light use. Even the camera, despite most of the back ones being fake, takes passable photos and videos. Software support for Android 8 is completely gone at this point however, so don't expect all apps to install or run well. The phone is indeed completely unlocked; reviews stating it is not are misinformed. Carriers such as ATT and Verizon have lists of approved phones on their networks, and if they do not detect a matching model, will often refuse to activate or register. This is not a fault of the phone, but of the carrier. I can confirm this device works on Mint Mobile / T-Mobile networks just fine. It may work on other carriers, but T-Mobile is generally very good for supporting unknown devices. Despite the lies, the device frequency bands listed are correct and pretty typical of generic / Chinese phones, so check with your carrier to make sure it operates on those frequencies before purchase. Unless you REALLY love the look of the S24 Ultra, it's best to find a name-brand phone. That said, if you're sold on looks alone, the physical feel of this device is FANTASTIC. It feels robust and heavy, with a solid metal frame and a vibrant glass IPS display. Battery life is decent. Call quality over VoLTE sounds good. Again, I bought this mostly out of curiosity but wound up genuinely liking it. Real S24 cases fit it well, and it’s “good enough” for use as a backup or basic work phone. If it ran a newer OS, I would find it easier to recommend, but the lack of future updates and support means you should probably avoid this. ... show more
