No funny smell when opening packaging. Very soft to the touch. Was worried about the price of course because normal King sized sheet you buy from other places are more around $100. Washed them in on gentle cycle and dried them on low heat and worked just fine. But buyer beware when I was pulling sheets apart to put them in the wash I noticed just how thin they are. The picture is me holding up the top sheet, and you can see right through it. I put them on bed and they fit great. We have a king mattress that is 14 inches. These sheets are so soft! SERIOUSLY. I recommend as soon as you get them out them in the washer with some fabric softener and they’ll be so so soft! They slide around a little but that’s just because I didn’t realize how deep they are (which is perfect for mattresses 10” or more)
