As the bookshelf had two long sides, it was understandably difficult to assemble by myself. Still, those long sides, rather than two separate sections atop each other, lend it good stability. My main issue was the problems with the brackets and screws. The boards weren't drilled out properly to tighten any of the screws, leaving the trim loose and wobbly, and unworkable. The help line got me to help very quickly--the only reason I'm leaving a 3-star review instead of 2--but the best they could come up with was to rub the screws in bar soap to get them to go in easier. This was a pain to implement but worked well enough to make the trim secure enough that no one will notice it's still a bit wobbly. The trim has nothing to do with the stability of the structure, so it's good enough. It will work, but it took a lot of work to get there. ... show more

This particle board shelf is not made from wood as described. The only way it can be used as a bookshelf without the shelves bending under the weight is to strengthen the unit with a sheet of plywood screwed onto the back and with 3 screws through the plywood into the back of each shelf. It has to be attached carefully with pilot holes to avoid splitting the particle board. The only reason I have given it 4 stars is because one couldn’t really expect much more for the price point, but it is misleading to describe it as a wooden bookshelf when it is actually a particle board curio shelf that needs significant strengthening to become a bookshelf. ... show more
