  • My sons favorite game.
It is a racing game that does not take the racing too seriously. Stunts, Crashes and speed it is just fun. I got this game and a wheel pedal set for Mario cart and built my kid a mini race sim, It is the only thing him hand his friends ever play.

  • My 7-year-old's favorite game
My son plays this game a lot. He loves ripping through the city and the mountain roads fast and tearing through signs and jumping over obstacles. Changing cars and motorcycles in the junk yard is a also great touch. I always know when he gets a new car upgrade because he always yells for me to show me how cool the new car is. It's open format so you can just go fast, crash, and hit jumps on your own time, or there are challenges and races you can do throughout the map if you want. I like that when you crash your car, depending on how bad it is, you'll either drive around with damage until you make it to a repair shop, or crash it bad enough, it will automatically respawn in perfect condition. ... show more

  • Needed to map the Pedals for Hori Mariokart Switch Wheel
I really like how the game looks. I've seen people pretty much just plug and play it with the Hori Mariokart wheel for Switch but it didn't do it for me, which sucks. Otherwise, it's fun. I'm just not crazy about having to reset for Mariokart after I've played.

  • Loses Appeal Quickly
I started playing this game months ago but quit because I got bored. After playing the brilliant driving game, Snowrunner, I decided to revisit Burnout Paradise, which was probably a mistake because despite it having a slightly higher Metacritic score, Snowrunner is a vastly superior game. Burnout Paradise originally came out in 2008 and feels absolutely archaic. I don’t mean archaic as in 12 years old. I mean archaic as in it feels like it’s from the 90’s. It’s probably not helped that the voice of Burnout Paradise is DJ Atomika from the SSX series. The idea of a game based on crashes sounds cool but it gets old real fast. Every time you do a takedown in a race (intentional or accidental) the camera switches to the crash, showing it in slow motion. It’s a momentary disorientation that shows me that EA cares more about the crashes than the races. This is an absolute seat of the pants racer. It’s just a blur of action and given that it’s an open world street racer, the path to the finish line can be somewhat nebulous. At the beginning of the race I try to follow the other racers but I almost always quickly take the lead. Now I’m trying to stay on the general path by looking back and forth between the mini map and the race with a decent likelihood of rear ending a non racer in that second while I look away. Maybe better racers than me can run clean races but I generally find myself crashing quite often and every single time I get to see that slow motion takedown scene. Some people may find the crashes a never ending source of enjoyment but for me it just breaks up the flow of the race and very quickly feels like the game is just rubbing my face in it. Also, EA decided not to give players the option to turn off the crash animation. Thanks. The camera in BP is total garbage. The right joystick can swing the camera around but it does it way too fast and I see no way to adjust the sensitivity. Even doing something simple like a 180 can be a pain in the butt. As expected, the physics are ridiculous. After all, this is an arcade style racer. However, the car doesn’t have to be this loose and floaty. My strategy in races is to try and find the route with the fewest turns and most straightaways and just go all out while avoiding crashes. In the sections where turns are unavoidable I tend to haul ass and just try and hit the guardrails as lightly as possible. The game does not reward subtlety. This is for people who fantasize about hang gliding from an F-15 Tomcat onto the nose of a killer whale while drinking a Jolt soda. Oh, and if you take a tragically wrong turn and have no chance of winning the race there is no way to leave the race without crossing the finish line. Even if every racer has finished, the race will continue and you can’t start another. That’s one of the most annoying features of the game. Beyond Mario Kart, Nintendo has been a desert of driving games for generations. I have the urge to pick up an XBox One just to play Forza, F1 and Dirt. Burnout Paradise Remastered has a 78 on Metacritic, which is a pretty good score but about 10 points lower than what the original was getting in 2008. Understandable given that, despite a new coat of paint, the game mechanics feel extremely dated. A lot of these complaints may be personal taste because many people really enjoy the game. I just found that the gameplay grew tiresome very quickly. ... show more

  • As fun as I remembered it
I had this game for XBox360 and it was a lot of fun. Glad I found it for the Switch and it’s still the great game I remember. Came with the game cartridge, but when I put it i. The switch, it had all the DLC packs with it.
