We just bought a double-sided memory foam mattress that’s firm on one side and soft/plush on the other, but the plush side that we had flipped to the bottom was sinking through the slats of our platform bed and desperately needed support before the new mattress started to sag. Not wanting to switch back to a box spring, I’ve been eyeing bunkie boards and this one looked like the best fit for our bed and mattress combination. I can honestly say that it is such a night and day difference after adding the bunkie board in terms of support and the overall feel of the mattress in general! We were starting to feel regret, like we had made the wrong choice in mattresses because it didn’t feel supportive, nor nearly firm enough and without the addition of this thing, we likely would have donated our new mattress before the end of the summer. This nifty thing is so sturdy and functional and actually, truly helps with all the added support needed for the new bed set ups (memory foam or hybrid mattresses on platform beds vs. the “old school” inner-spring mattress + boxspring combination). The quality of the build is a smart design that withstood high outdoor temperatures before we got it inside without warping. Set up was so simple, took maybe 2 minutes, maybe 10 minutes if you account for putting a bedskirt on top (bonus point for now being able to use a bedskirt!) and the mattress back on. The material that covers the panels isn’t slippery, but not grippy either — yet somehow our mattress does not slide around on it (though the mattress cover does have a grippy bottom). Definitely measure the base of your bed to ensure it fits to size. For us, we have a platform bed that has no edges that clamp around the bed or any portion of the bed frame where the mattress would reside inside, which I could see being an issue with some older or upholstered beds. Overall, we feel much more supported and comfortable now and feel this was a good find to prolong the life of our mattress without the bulk of a box spring that would have raised our bed too high to see the wrought iron detailing of the bed frame.

Last year I spent a lot of time searching for a bunkie to put on top of the old slat on my bed to provide some extra support to it. I never came across one that looked sturdy that was affordable. When I saw this one I got so excited and ordered it immediately without giving it much thought. Well, I have moved and no longer have that bed. I intended to use it to replace two pieces of plywood that were being used with a metal frame to support a queen memory foam mattress. I got the bunkie board cut out of the box and put the two pieces together on top of the bed. I was impressed with how strong the boards felt under the cloth, how well they were covered and that the Velcro strip held the two pieces together securely. It was sized so that it would provide full support to the mattress so I set it aside while I removed the mattress and plywood. That’s when it hit me that I wouldn’t be able to use it with the standard bed frame! Oh well! But I put it on top of the two pieces of plywood which now makes the base sturdier. It no longer bows downward so the mattress doesn’t sink when you lie on it👍 I really loved the bed frame that I used to have but the company I bought it from so many years ago no longer makes the same style. I’m looking for a new bed frame that I like and when I find one this bunkie board will come in handy. If your looking for a bunkie board I definitely recommend this one👍👍

The boards themselves are of decent quality, however they really should have included strapping on all sides, as on our metal slatted bed frame, they still can easily slide side-to-side. And speaking of straps, while the ones here work OK, there's not really a way to make them snug, so while it does stop them from sliding completely off the frame, it doesn't prevent movement of several inches. A shame as the boards themselves are good quality so I do want to recommend, but the strapping situation to attach to the frame could use some work so the bed doesn't easily slide, as the material itself is a bit slippery when paired with metal.

These boards have a simple, low profile look, which made installation easy. I really like the Velcro straps, they wrap securely around the frame and keep everything in place. The difference in mattress support is immediately noticeable. It feels much firmer and more stable compared to just having the mattress on the frame. Once installed, they’re completely invisible. Great upgrade!

actual size is 79.5 inch x 57.5 inch, took the measurement after finding the bed base has some spaces on side. might be OK as it is only the base. But should have described as close as the real size. The good thing is that it has 2 pieces, one side can be attached to the other.

So far so good, I needed something to help with making my new mattress firmer and this has done the job. It fits a Queen bed perfectly and comes in two sections to make everything easier to deal with. A very nice product!

Gets the job done with total support. The foldable panels become very sturdy when placed on top of the frame and fit our queen size perfectly. Manages to provide support without being overly thick. The material and the board inside all feel extremely durable. The board did move a little against our metal frame. Since the kids like to slide in I knew that would be an issue. I had one of the straps come lose so I elected to use a little double sided tape to keep it in place. I think the boards are a decent value for the most part. Especially since they are a little more friendly in humid climates. But to me what would make it really worth it would be some grip like rubber strips on one side to make it compatible for slicker metal frames.
