  • Amazing if you walk a lot and carry a lot of stuff like me. A great upgrade from my Fox 5.
I upgraded to the Bugaboo Donkey 6 stroller from my Bugaboo Fox 5, and overall it has been a great change for our needs. My baby is currently 13 months old, and I wanted something that could grow with us and eventually accommodate two kids while still being comfortable to use every day. The stroller feels just as premium and sturdy as the Fox line, and the side pocket setup is surprisingly easy to maneuver considering its size. One thing I really appreciated is that several accessories from my Fox 5 still work with the Donkey 6. I was able to reuse the wheeled board, cup holder, organizer, footmuff, seat liner, smartphone holder, and even the big comfort transport bag. That made the upgrade a lot easier since I didn’t have to replace everything. The stroller itself feels very well built and handles different terrain nicely, which is one of the reasons I like Bugaboo strollers in general, since I stroll a lot, and carry a lot of stuff. There are a couple of compatibility details to keep in mind. Car seat adapters are different between the Fox 5 and Donkey 6 (I didn’t end up needing them since my baby is already older). The sun canopy from the Fox 5 also didn’t fit on the Donkey, so that’s something to plan for if you’re upgrading. I imagine that the rain covers should also be chosen specifically for the Donkey model since the canopy shapes are different. Overall, though, it’s been a fantastic upgrade and a great option if you’re already in the Bugaboo ecosystem and planning for a second child. ... show more

  • This is a premium looking stroller (and priced accordingly).
We have been using our new Bugaboo Donkey 6 stroller for approximately a month now. As a mother to many, for over a decade, who is a bit of a stroller snob, I have tried (with various degrees of likes and dislikes) so many different kinds of strollers. I have found some features that I love and some features that I do not like. The Bugaboo Donkey 6 is not the worst stroller that I have ever used, but it is also not the best. It is also exceptionally pricey, with exceptionally pricey accessories as well. First off--I was super excited when it said "bassinet included in the box" because I figured then it could be used with an infant (bassinet) and a toddler. Unfortunately, that is not the case, because while a "bassinet" is included, it uses the same frame (different fabric) as the toddler seat. To get a second seat frame is $470 (ouch!). To get a second bassinet, add an additional $270 to the $470. So, truthfully, while it is expandable to a double, it is not a "single to double" out of the box. And, it costs more than so many double strollers *just* to get another seat, on top of the already expensive part. Secondly, this stroller *looks* premium, and it is. The deep indigo is nice and looks fancy. I wish it had leather vs. black on the handlebar for this, as it does for other colors. I did notice a bit of piling pretty much immediately, even with light use. Thirdly--this stroller frame is quite sturdy. It does not have the easiest height adjustment for the handle nor the easiest collapse, but both are doable. To stretch the stroller into a double almost takes two people, as it is tough to do so. Fourth--the basket on this thing is fabulous. It is strong and big enough to hold a toddler (or you know, the toddler's things). The included "diaper bag" is fine... I almost wish it would collapse in a bit more and not have an included diaper bag, but it is perfect for someone using this stroller as a main means of transportation. While it says it has large, all-terrain wheels, this stroller does not do great in thick rocks or in grass. It also (surprisingly and the main reason I took a star off) would not go up over concrete sidewalk that had approximately a 1.5 inch deep. It bounced off and bounced back at me. I have had significantly cheaper strollers with smaller wheels that have made it over the same spot. It also has next to no shocks--it is obviously not a jogging stroller, but I would expect some with an all-terrain wheel one. It actually bounces far too much for my baby (she walks, so she's sturdy) to ride in it when in grass. Overall, this is a beautiful stroller. It looks fancy. It feels fancy. It's a premium stroller, at a premium price. I think it absolutely has its place--it turns on a dime, it fits through doorways--and I think its place may be best for someone who is using it as a main means of transportation, perhaps in a city, or who needs to carry lots of gear (maybe medical) compactly. I'm not sure I'll ever add a second seat to it, due to the already high cost in it, but perhaps...we will see. (I also love the bassinet. It is LONG, long enough that my child wearing 18m clothes can actually lay down in it, so if you have a special needs child who is much older than typical bassinet age, this should work for them, too, at least for awhile.... but the length doesn't really help much given that most children outgrow developmentally long before size). ... show more

  • Solidly Built Stroller
The Bugaboo Donkey 6 seems very well-made; the fabric and frame feel high quality. I appreciate the large tires - they appear capable of handling various terrains, which is a plus. The canopy looks substantial and should provide good coverage.
