Getting the parts out of the well-packed carton, I was happily surprised to discover all the components are made of metal. Heavy gauge steel. I expected the impeller housing to be plastic, but it's steel, 16 or 18 gauge. Rock solid. Same goes for the base pan, and all steel parts are nicely powder coated black or red. Assembly was easy and everything fit nicely. The only adverse aspect of assembly was the Rivnut (threaded insert) to mount the upper bag support mast: it was spinning in place. There is no way to fix it as is, so I pulled out the Rivnut and installed the mast with two large fender washers and two nuts. It's stronger this way anyway. For a buyer that has no hardware to make this sort of repair, it's a show-stopper because a spinning Rivnut will continue to become more loose through use, and in this case the vertical support will flop over. For chip/dust extraction, this is a substantial upgrade from a large Shop Vac. I removed the 90-degree hose coupler from the impeller housing and installed the flex hose directly to it which noticeably improved the airflow. This works extremely well with the 14" planer and 16" horizontal drum sander. It takes up the same amount of floorspace as a 16-gal Shop Vac, but far outperforms it. I have never given a review for a product i purchased on Amazon before but figured I would on this one. I purchased this because i needed something in my garage shop to eliminate the saw dust that i created when doing projects. Even after sweeping and wiping stuff down, I would still get dust everywhere. Delivery - The product came in a decent size box but manageable for a single person. It was nicely packed, and the Styrofoam held everything in place perfectly. Nothing was scratched or damaged when I unpacked everything. It came with a small box that held all the bolts and misc items. This was a complete mess. The bolts, nuts and washers were not in a package and were thrown about the box. I still am unable to find some of the washers and nuts, even after searching the boxes to make sure they are hidden behind a flap. Was not really happy about how this was packaged but I was able to find some nuts and hex bolts in the garage to use. The L - bracket that gets installed to the motor and you connect the tubing to was missing. Not an issue as i was able to hook the tubing up to the motor and worked perfectly. Even though it is not an issue, still aggravating not receiving that with the package. Installation The installation of this was not difficult but the directions are not very thorough. I realize that some people have the unique ability to install/build and fix things and others need detailed instructions like a child. I am a child and need detailed instructions. I am not mechanically inclined and know this. It did not state whether I was supposed to install the plastic bags inside the mesh bags or not. I did install them in both the top and bottom one. Which was not correct. I then spent an hour trying to figure out why i had no suction. The bag inflated properly but was getting nothing. Come to find out, the top mesh bag didnt need a plastic bag insert. Only the bottom one. After all of that, I can say that common sense would have dictated that, but clearer directions would have been nice. Operation This thing is badass. I hooked it up to a few of the machines in the shop and worked like a glove!!! Love it. The movability is perfect. The auto function is awesome. Super excited to not have any dust in the shop. This product comes in a box 460 x 500 x 750 mm (18 x 19.5 x 29.5") big. It weights 28.75 kgs or 63.4 lbs. All parts were packed well and arrived in perfect condition. Assembly was straightforward and took 15 minutes. There is a manual but instead of reading text I just used drawings as an assembly guide. Assembled product is 40 x 68 x 162 cm (15.5 x 27 x 64") and weights 21.5 kgs or 56.2 lbs. Dust collector comes with 4" diameter hose which is 175 cm long (69"). Electric wire is 180 cm (71") long. It comes with 2 micron bag. It is easy to roll it around the shop. I like how compact this DC50 is and that it has such small footprint. I found noise level, this machine produce, bearable. My noise meter reads 82dB 3 meters (10 ft) away from the machine. That is 7dB more than regular shop vacuum cleaner makes. Suction is quite strong, since there is no dust cyclone in this system and a hose is rather short. That means this machine will be ideal for planer or table saw etc. It can also be used with sanders and variety of handheld powertools as it comes with five adapters for machines with smaller dust ports. Included adapters have following diameters ID/OD: 1.1/1.4; 1.3/1.6; 1.55/1.8; 2.4/2.75; 3.9/4.1". Automatic switch which is a part of this machine is a very useful addition. It is rated 15A or 2HP. When you plug your woodworking machine to the outlet located on the DC50's motor, switching this machine on will also turn the DC50 on. Once you switch woodworking machine off DC50 will also stop running, 5 to 6 seconds later. ... show more

Seems to fill up and need emptying pretty often, but I guess that means it’s doing it’s job. I’m happy with it and will probably get a couple more just so I don’t have to switch between machines. UPDATE Purchased 4 more units, 3 of which were missing parts. Granted it was only a screw and washer for 2 of them but the 3rd was missing the elbow where you hook up the suction hose. These are still great machines but attention to detail is lacking in the packing department. ... show more
