    • Use a glue gun to make the connection permanent!!! Make your project "Burning Man-able"

I hate trying to solder LEDs because one of the connections would eventually come loose, so I looked into these. This project is for Burning Man, whenever it happens again, so I know the connection cannot fail even in the harshest environment under heavy duty conditions. Its gonna have to handle extreme heat, dust and vibration and possibly a crash or two and I refuse to bring a soldering iron on the playa. The problem with these connectors is that the strip would come out if it was even slightly pulled on, which makes perfect sense, so I just used these for testing. The strip/cords are often tugged on so I never blamed the design on their reason for not really working outside of testing. This weekend I thought about using a hot glue gun to make the connection permanent and it worked like a charm. Just connect the strip to the connector, making sure the white goes to ground and the red goes to 5v because its easy to put the strip in with the power and ground connections reversed. After the strip is inserted correctly, put a drop of hot glue on the connection and close the tab over it. You can try to pull the LED strip and connector apart after getting glued and they stayed put. I will probably never attempt to solder LED strips after learning this technique. Try it out if you're having the same issues as me, which you most likely are if you are purchasing this connector. ... show more

    • Point of contact spacing is off (WS2811) and weak grip.

the spacing between points of contact is wider than that of the WS2811 strip and require bending. Additionally, the grip on the strip is very weak and the strip slips off the clamp very easily even with careful handling.

These work OK, although I found them easier to solder than close in some cases. The connection can be fickle. I suggest lightly scratching the solder pad area of your light strip prior to using the strip. In my experience that made a big difference in reliability of the connection. Also, beware the wires are not consistently colored. Fried a strand of sk6812 led strip lights by mistake. It was my fault - I cut the connector to connect to a power supply. I trusted the colors without confirming they corresponded to the voltage on the led strip. Mistake - the white was power and red was ground (not the other way around). Connected to the power supply and burned up about a meter of lights. Bummer deal. But hey, if you're using them to connect two strips together it really shouldn't matter. So -- don't cut em and that problem shouldn't happen (assuming the light strips are the same brand and you're just splicing them together). Just be aware, the wire colors aren't 'standard' for an application. Pay attention or pay again :-( ... show more

EDIT: My original review was absolutely wrong. It was the pads on the strip that needed to be modified due to a coating on them preventing contact with the connector prongs. Once I sanded the pads on the strips, everything worked beautifully. Original review: (below is not true) These simply do not work with WS2812B strips. Didn't work for the Govee lights I had gotten. They're off by about half a mm, so the connection is very finicky. They seem like they'd work well, if they're perfectly aligned, but not sure how you'd know that just buying them.

Bought these to use with the Govee dream color H6117 LED lights. They did exactly what I bought them for. Once I figured out to cut about a quarter inch of the adhesive on the bottom and the same for the plastic on the top ( they just peel back). It connects easily. I used them to go around corners and I also cut them half to wire them to the 3 conductor wire I ran from cabinet to cabinet. Worked perfectly. ... show more

My experience with this product can be summarized as follows: * I used these with the recommended LED strips — including ones from the same brand — and I could not get them to make proper contact. * I had to press and clamp them just to get a signal, and fixing one end would cause the other to lose contact again. * On the WS2812B strip specifically, the section before each connector showed noticeably dimmer colors than the rest of the strip — likely a noise sensitivity issue inherent to this strip type, but the connectors made it worse. * I do not recommend these for WS2812B setups.
