    • Fabric shoelace eyelets are defective

The shoes were fine for almost 4 months but then I thought the shoelace broke; instead, it was one of the fabric eyelets. The laces are fed through both regular eyelets (leather/ plastic) and 4 fabric eyelets about halfway up the tongue. It's one of these fabric eyelets that broke and the adjacent fabric eyelet is starting to fray. Seems to be happening more and more, with Brooks and NB, the wides are no longer wide. And my foot is just barely wide. Quality way down too, but design is great. You would think they would keep their corner of the wide hiker and trainer market since most all other shoes are so narrow. But alas, they are going narrow too. Guess the over seas swett shops just wont follow the blueprints, so you get less quality and more narrow shoes. Makes perfect sense if you think about where everything is made. ... show more

Shoe fit fine and quality of the shoe seemed normal. However I purchased this particular shoe for the gortex top which is waterproof. With a simple test I realized these were not waterpoof whatsoever.

I have bought at least 12 pairs of Brooks, nearly all of them ghosts.... and my size is 11, reliably. So I bought 11 in this Brooks trail runner... too big. Get 1/2 size smaller!!! So after running trails for more than a year in shoes too large... I bucked up and got 10.5. Perfect.

I have been a fan of the brooks line of shoes for a long time, I put seven to ten miles a day on this shoe walking the dog and the dog walking me. I've worn Dyad's for 10 years and hoped that these trail shoes would meet my hiking needs. Unfortunately, the toebox is more narrow than my feet can handle. It's a shame, cuz they look like great shoes.
