  • Great value in hiking shoe! Ordered 9 wide but fit tighter than Merrill 9 wide!
Size: 9 Wide Color: Oyster Mushroom/Alloy/Orange
Replace Merrill Moab with this model. Had been wearing Merrill Moabs for over 5 years. Brooks fit is tighter than Merrill but still able to get on. Very comfortable to stand and walk on even for long periods. GREAT FEEL OF CONTROL OVER MERRILL MOAB WHICH HAD A TENDENCY TO ROLL ON UNEVEN TERRAIN. Probably not going back to Merrill Moab. Technology changes over time and the Brooks Cascadia is light years ahead of the Merrill Moab in my opinion. Merrill Moab was a great shoe at one time and is still a good shoe now but the only reason to buy the Moab is if you have very wide feet and or high instep. Cheers! ... show more

  • Great purchase!
Size: 10.5 Color: Oyster Mushroom/Alloy/Orange
I'm not a hiker but do walk alot. Shoes did take a couple weeks to break in. 10.5 was true to size fit perfectly. I like the chunky soles and the rock plate. I didn't notice alot water getting in shoes like some others stated. The only negative thing I noticed is they slip a little in water(rocks). But not a big deal for me, I'm not a hiker. ... show more

  • Great entry trail runners
Size: 10 Color: Oyster Mushroom/Alloy/Orange
I started out hiking and then gradually switched to trail running. Switching from hiking specific shoes to these trail runners has made a huge difference. They would also be great as regular hikers as long as it's on trail. Not quite robust enough for off trail use. Comfortable out of the box, roomy toe box with good toe protection, good sole and decent rock protection. ... show more

  • Fits well, seems well-built
Size: 11 Color: Oyster Mushroom/Alloy/Orange
These shoes fit just like some other Brooks running shoes I own so two thumbs up for size consistency from Brooks. Wore these a lot for hiking on a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Great for traction on uneven and slippery ground.

  • Good but painful
Size: 10.5 Color: Peacoat/Atomic Blue/Rooibos
The best thing about these shoes are the weight. They are super light which any quality running shoe should be. However, they could be lighter by removing all the ridged plastic in the heal and toe areas. I’m running trails not out kicking logs and rocks. The hard plastic areas cause massive blistering even on veteran soles like mine. I have bones in my feet and ankles. I don’t need all this stuff ridged crap added. The other downside to the plastic is it creates a breading area for bacteria and the shoe take twice as long to dry as all mesh or fabric shoes do to the condensation build up. I know Scott Jute used to rock these but he also busted his ankle in them. I expected better from Brooks. ... show more

  • Great hiking shoes
Size: 10.5 Color: Black/Grey/Red
I do a bunch of day hikes up to 12 miles in a day. They have held up well the grip has been great. I’ve had a couple of hokas and I was looking for another shoe since they kept falling apart early. As far as the comfort it gives you good cushion and rebound. I did a 11 mile hike, rocky, muddy, wet, flat, essentially all types of terrain. The shoe was great on all terrains. I’d buy them again. The colors everyone seems to like it and I do, too. ... show more

  • Best Daily Wear Brooks Ever!
Size: 10.5 Color: Titan/Peacoat/Nightlife
I have had these shoes for several weeks now and wear them as my daily wear shoes. I love the support they give me and the comfortable feel around my feet. My past Brooks shoes seem to loosen up and stretch in a short amount of time, but not these. I guess since they are designed for hiking, you need the extra support. Everyone has a different walk and it shows in the wear on their shoes. I guess I walk with my feet somewhat turned outward since over time the shoes cloth top begins slouching over the rubber support. So far, these Brooks feel great and there are no signs of this type of wear taking place. I’ll definitely pick up another pair of these in the future if they don’t discontinue them! ... show more

  • What I wanted for backpacking!
Size: 13 Color: Zinnia/Eclipse/Nomad
Lots of good features that I haven’t found in Merrill or Hoka trail runners. They have a wider platform with a stiffer sole, lugs that didn’t break off, and laces that were flat and stayed tied. Very breathable too as advertised, and that really helped when going through water. It was like the ads (ha!) where the water drained out and let air in to start to dry out. In fairness I stopped to actually dry out socks and such, be realistic as these aren’t magical shoes. More normal use case is that it kept my feet from becoming too sweaty which was fantastic. They are a bit wide, which was very nice for stability, just had to cinch them up a bit tighter. The cost of the width and sold is a little weight. I’m not a runner so prefer the features. Bottom line, I’ve been looking for a lighter option adding to the classic Merrill Moabs and think this actually also replaces them for wilderness terrain. For rocks, might still keep the Moabs based exclusively on the soles. That’s a personal preference tho and unvetted so take it for what it’s worth. ... show more
