While it is a nice Brio train piece, it really doesn't make much noise. The "bell" isn't really a bell, it doesn't ring or have much a clear sound. Rather when the strikers hit it, it give a faint metallic sound, soft, quick, flat, no resonance, or bell like sound, just a "clink, clink, clink", but even that is being too generous.     • Simple fun train with a quiet bell
Very cute little train, it's simple and fun for my 2 year old. The bell sound is pretty quiet but my son still likes it and I appreciate that it's not loud. He seems to like this one and chooses it over several of his other Brio trains.

I really love the brio train products. I recently bought the bell car for my grand son because he already has others we have bought him. I love them because they are a no fuss or muss toy and easy to care for that he plays with constantly. The only thing is that I think the bell should be a little louder. Got this car to add to the set my son got for his 2nd birthday a few months ago. Bell car works well with the set and contrary to some reviewers I think the bell is just the right volume. It's not super loud but you can hear it when you are playing with the toy or in the same room. Quite frankly, I think it would be annoying if it were louder. ... show more
