The Wirecutter recommended this as their 'upgrade pick'. It's expensive but my previous spinner bag had a busted wheel and after a long tour of duty I felt it was time for something new. Something nice. I treated myself to this bag and I'm so glad I did. I quickly added a duffel bag / underseat carryon bag which helpfully fits right on the handles of this 22 inch spinner bag. I can walk around in an airport at a fast pace deftly maneuvering this 4-wheeled wonder through even the busiest terminals. But getting there is only half the fun, what's it like when you get there? This bag is unbelievably well designed with thought given to how to make use of every cubic inch of space. A zippered pouch lined orange for small items. A pocket for travel documents. Room for three hangers of clothing. A large front pocket perfect for my MacBook Air. With all the main supports heavily armored with tough plastic to not only provide protection of the goods inside but also serving to maximize the internal space. It might feel a tiny bit loosey-goosey but this is absolutely to the thing's benefit. The bend-dont-break model makes this an incredibly robust piece of luggage. Another great purchase from Briggs and Riley! We purchased this 26 inch medium expandable Baseline Spinner in Olive Green for my mother, and she absolutely adores it. Its capacity is much larger than I had expected; in fact, it holds so much that my mom definitely overpacked for her two week trip. Both well-constructed and attractive, the baseline spinner has tons of zippered pockets and interior pouches for easy organization. Plus the olive green color helps it to stand out from the sea of black luggage at baggage claim. We have several other Briggs and Riley bags and love them all. Although pricier than their competitors, the quality is unmatched AND they offer a Lifetime Warranty, a true rarity these days. My mother bought her first set of Briggs and Riley about 25 years ago. Two of the three pieces still function wonderfully, but the wheels on her smallest spinner began malfunctioning 5 years ago. In my search for the perfect carry-on luggage for business and personal travel, I narrowed my choices down to the Briggs & Riley Spinner and other options from Tumi. What swayed my decision was that Briggs & Riley had similar features and reviews to Tumi and came in at a significantly lower price. Long story short, I haven't regretted my decision at all. The Spinner is solidly built and has more than enough room for 5-6 day trips. The garment panel lets you to pack a suit and at least three dress shirts without wrinkling, and at least 5 dress shirts without a suit. The telescoping handle is sturdy and smooth, and more importantly mounted on the outside of the bag which provides a flat surface on the inside for easier wrinkle-free packing. I haven't had to use the CX system to expand the bag but I can see how that would provide additional capacity for even longer trips than I haven taken so far. The four wheel spinner is perfect for navigating tight crows in the airport and even tighter airplane aisles. The bag has a premium feel, plenty of storage and pockets for everything you'd want to travel with, and I have no doubt it will survive and thrive over severals years of globetrotting. ... show more

Got this on to replace same-sized model and brand roller bag. The new model has popup expansion that is so easy to use! The spinner wheels don’t always roll straight, but quality and durability is great. Handle is much more durable than Tumi of same size.

    • Great product except for the wheels

Briggs & Riley does a great job supporting traveler’s buying decisions when it comes to their products. Very detailed and informative plus the build quality is awesome. I thought I found the perfect carry-on when I unboxed the 22-inch Spinner Baseline Essential case. For years I used a Tumi Continental spinner, but recently it started showing its age with some cosmetic damage and a broken zipper. It wasn’t until I packed up the B&R for a three day trip that I decided this case wasn’t for me. Rolling this case on all four spinners through the airport was like trying to hold up a drunken sailor walking across a boat deck in rough seas. It’s all over the place. You have to work it to keep from getting off course and bumping into someone. Again I’m comparing this to my Tumi but I’ll add my wife’s Travelpro which does an excellent job wheeling through an airport. If you never used a Tumi or Travelpro or you are migrating from a two wheeled roller board you probably won’t know the difference as many reviewers here show they’re very happy with this case. Another peeve, although minor, is the suite holder, it’s smaller than my Tumi so my hanging shirts were more susceptible to wrinkling and I couldn’t hang as much clothing. Again B&R is impressive, great design, the ratchet mechanism for compressing the case is awesome. Just need the wheels to track straight so as not to course-correct every moment your escorting the case through the airport or hotel lobby. I wound up buying a new Tumi Alpha Continental and grudgingly paid the additional $300 more compared the B&R case. My first choice would have been the Travelpro Elite series 22inch; but unfortunately, it only comes in a two wheel model. ... show more
