I bought a Logitech webcam which uses a USB-C wire but my desktop computer doesn't have any USB-C ports. This converter did the trick -- the throughput is high enough so that I can stream to Twitch with it. I'm relieved I didn't have to go through the hassle of using an expansion card to add ports.

I use this adapter to connect my USB-C to USB-C Oculus Link cable to my Laptop. Even though my laptop has a USB-C port, it doesn't work well with Oculus Link for whatever reason. Using this adapter, the link cable works just great.

    • Only gives USB 3.0 speeds in one orientation
The USB C connector is supposed to be symmetrical, so it shouldn't matter which way you plug it in. I tested transfer speeds for this adapter with a setup that will do ~960 Mbps (twice the 480 Mbps upper limit for USB 2.0), but I only get the maximum speed with the USB C cable connected in one orientation. In the other orientation, I only get up to about 330 Mbps. And there's no way to tell which orientation is the fast one without testing it yourself. A competitor's adapter shows the same asymmetrical behavior, but they at least disclosed it in their product description. And their fit and finish is better; this one feels a bit loose. Also, the official USB C specification (from usb.org) says this: "USB Type-C receptacle to USB legacy adapters are explicitly not defined or allowed. Such adapters would allow many invalid and potentially unsafe cable connections to be constructed by users." So while the opposite type of adapter (USB C _plug_ to USB A receptacle) is allowed, this type is not. That doesn't mean the way YOU use it would necessarily be invalid or unsafe (after all, it worked OK for me), but you should at least be aware of the potential risk. ... show more

I use this for my new iPad Pro which plugs in directly to my desk and allows me to charge while working. Allows for fast on the go charging from a power USB port instead of using the normal charger that comes with the iPad Pro, saves space while traveling for work in my back pack. Allows for quick charging in airports or hotels without pulling out all my gear or finding an outlet. USB power ports are more common these days. A great value and delivered in a timely manner.     • USB-C cable keeps falling off. It will not make a reliable connection. Look elsewhere.
I do not recommend this adapter. My USB-C cable kept falling out of the adapter. It does not make a snug connection at the female end. The slightest movement in the cable and it falls right out of the adapter. The USB 3.0 male end works just fine. At first I thought it was a defective cable but when I tested my USB-C cable male end on other USB-C female plugs it was nice and snug. This adapter is inexpensive but not functional.     • Worked with a DisplayLink dock to send keyboard and mouse.
Connected my Surface Pro 3 to a Dell D6000, sends keyboard and mouse no problem. Of course it doesn't charge, the SP3 doesn't charge via USB and it's USB 2 anyways. If I try DisplayLink drivers, I'll let ya know if ti works, but I did not expect that, the SP3 has mini-DP for that.
