  • There are many incompetent reviewers
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
Having beaten this game, and gotten the True Ending, I can say that the various Professional and Amateur reviewers out there who rate the story as bad or generic simply haven't done so. In fact I doubt they have beaten the prologue, let alone gotten to the amazing chapters and character moments later in the game. There are also a lot of complaints about difficulty and grind, and it is early on, however it quickly becomes absurdly and purposely easy to break both the grind and the combat system to rapidly level Jobs. They even tell you how to and give you items you really don't need to help you rapidly acquire JP. Bosses are challenging, but they all have a gimmick and weaknesses which you are directly given tools to break. Ultimately it turns from ons of the hardest games to one of the most amazing and satisfying turn based combat systems. Frankly, it is the best JRPG Square has put out in ages. ... show more

  • Great game to start, becomes a chore
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
I love the grind fest old school combat. The job system is also top notch! The character models and story leave a bit to be desired. 4.5/5. Edit: Changed to 3, but more like 2.5/5, stars after 20 hours. The grind becomes annoying and the side quest make me want to put my head through a wall.

  • It's getting more praise than it deserves
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
No where we good as the ones on 3DS. The game performs bad on switch with low frame rate and more pixelation then a nes game. What magic the other games had are gone. This game is bland with glitchy boss fights. Adding to the mix that an enemy counter attacks you if you heal sometimes the enemy will be in default mode and hit you then get four more turns. Talk about a dumb design choice. I love turn based rpg games. I love jrpg games but this is as mediocre as they come. It seriously needs a performance patch and game tweaks to be considered OK. ... show more

  • A beautiful jrpg

I love the art style this game inspires throughout the story but the gameplay is a little difficult even for casual players

  • Good Game But Not as Good as the Others
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
Bravely Default II is the third entry in the series, and it unfortunately isn't better than the others. The combat is similar with braving and defaulting and you have an ATB bar letting you know when you are up for a move (based on speed attribute + weight limit). Enemies have weaknesses that you can reveal with the examine skill or magnifying glass item. Also enemies are very tough for some reason. Like I was being almost killed by one hit from regular roaming enemies, even after grinding and getting the best armor at the time. Also counter attacks are a huge pain, as you will brave and attack just for the enemy to counter after each hit, sometimes killing you, so its a constant gamble. Also you can use asterisks to choose your job and assigns abilities, just like before. The characters are interesting and unique, but those voice acting can be bad at times. The story revolves around crystals and the elements, so more of the same from Square Enix- which is fine. The music is very good, like the other titles so no complaint there. The art style of the towns are magnificent and those hand drawn designs will never get old. The designs of the jobs are a bit much sometimes, but not bad. Lastly, the visual are ok. When docked and playing on TV, scenes are pixelated, especially the towns. I feel the visuals could be better at times as this game is not that demanding. Also the frame rate drops are disappointing, but not frequent. Overall- good game but the characters, world, and overall gameplay are not as good as the previous entries. Edit- moved it to 3/5 stars as the grind and side missions are extremely lack luster, tedious, and boring. ... show more

Loving the turned base game style. This brings back a lot of memories of old jrpgs I’ve played in the past.

  • Great game so far!
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
I'm only in the middle of Chapter 1, but so far the game is great. The only problems I have with the game is that after playing for about 1-1.5 hours, opening the menu takes a bit longer than you would think, and Party Chats don't respond as fast when pressing the + button. I don't think it's my controller, because this is the only game that this happens too. Other than that, and a few slowdowns, great game, just as good as Bravely Default and Bravely Second! ... show more
