Description

The digital non-programmable thermostat shall be a Braeburn, 1020 number 1020, 3.70” high x 5.16” wide x 1.38” deep, powered independently with either 24 volt AC or with two “aa” alkaline batteries (3.0 volt dc). the thermostat shall be compatible with single stage gas, oil or electric heating or cooling systems including single stage heat pumps and 250Mv – 750Mv millivolt heating systems. The thermostat shall have a bright blue backlight display, adjustable temperature limits and separate sub-base for trouble free installation. Temperature control range shall be between 45° and 90° F (7° and 32°c), accuracy of +/- 1° F (+/- .5° c), humidity range between 5% and 95% relative humidity. The thermostat shall include non-volatile memory to retain all user and temperature settings. Thermostat shall have low battery indication and a front reset button will return user settings to default values when pressed. The thermostat can be mounted to a horizontal junction box.

This Braeburn 1020 was purchased to replace a Honeywell T4 Pro that was installed by a contractor with my furnace replacement. The T4 Pro is loaded with bells and whistles with small numbers on a small display. Nothing wrong with the T4, it was just overkill for me and difficult to read. This Braeburn 1020 is perfect for my requirements. My system is heat only, no AC. I don’t need or want a timer to turn the heat on/off at a specified time or day (I’m retired). My furnace is efficient and will heat my condo in about five minutes when it is turned on. If the night is very cold, I just set the thermostat at bedtime and adjust in the morning if necessary. The numbers on the Braeburn display are relatively large at one inch for the current temperature, about 3/8 inch for the temp set number and about 1/4 inch for the AC/OFF/HEAT indicator. The is great for senior eyes or anyone with not so perfect vision. See attached photos. If you are a DIY person and will install yourself photos are attached showing the thermostat wiring (for my system, yours may be different) along with the F/C, HG/HE, CONV/HP switch settings.     • No issues with this thermostat but not sure it is your best option for cast iron baseboards
I like the .5 degree setting . it works better than others I have tried. Still looking for a thermostat to suit my needs with oil cast iron baseboard heat. By the time the baseboards radiate heat the furnace has run longer than it needs too then the temp will raise 2 degrees 10 minutes later. I want one that will run the furnance for 15 - 20 mins then wait 10 mins before it senses the temp. Oh well ... show more
