This BPC organic down comforter is a nice one…I got a California King for our King bed, so that we’d have more overhang around the edges of the bed (I’ve always felt that most duvets/comforters fall too short around the sides of the bed, so I size up). I love that the fabric is organic cotton, as we’re pretty vigilant about using organic products and avoiding chemicals where/however possible in all facets of our life. The comforter is 750 fill-power, and it’s quite lightweight, but still provides adequate warmth for us – we live in a warmer Southwest climate as it is; we should be able to use this year-round, which is a plus for us. The box stitching is reinforced, and our preference is always a baffle box anyway, to keep the fill evenly distributed throughout the comforter without it moving around and piling up in sections. I didn’t wash the comforter upon receipt, but rather just put it in the dryer with my wool dryer balls for about 15 minutes to fluff it up and knock out wrinkles (this is what I always do with down comforters, and it works great). Our décor incorporates white, and I don’t plan on inserting this inside a duvet, instead we’ll use it standalone on the bed…it looks great. No prickly feathers and none sticking out of the fabric; my hope is that it lasts over time and maintains its quality.

This gorgeous duvet insert is so soft and fluffy and comfortable, and the way it's designed you feel like it's a shame to stuff it into a plain duvet cover. It's certainly nice enough looking to use by itself as long as you're okay washing it more often. But it's kind of worth it to show off the quilted design. The square quilted design doesn't show through when you use this inside of a duvet cover, which was something I was particularly interested about when I ordered this product. My favorite detail, though, is the little tabs in the corner where you can tie the duvet to the cover, so long as your duvet cover has corner ties (most do, and if not, it's easy enough to sew in little scraps of fabric and 100% worth it). I'd consider this a truly all-year comforter. It breathes well, but also keeps you warm. Not too heavy, not too light. It's like sleeping under a perfectly weighted cloud. Enough weight so that you feel it and it rests nicely on your body. Extremely snuggly!

As you can see, this down comforter is quite wrinkly. It looked like this out of the package and after trying to air fluff it in the dryer and even steam it with my steamer, it still looked pretty wrinkly. Then, per the instructions which advised that it is a good idea to wash this once before using, I hesitantly and cautiously put this into my washing machine on super delicate to give it a quick and gentle wash, per the manufacturer's advice. I put it in the dryer immediately after and of course noticed the dread wet down smell. It dried relatively quickly, but I was a little freaked out that I had ruined it because of the vaguely musty smell. I let it air out as much as possible and once I put it back on the bed, the smell was still there although it has been dissipating over the past week. So, I am a little unsure about the whole washing it first idea because now I feel like it will forever have this vague odor. This picture I am including was after washing, drying, air fluffing, etc. so it still looked just as wrinkly as it did right out of the package. I guess I can conceal the wrinkles with a duvet, but I was kind of wanting to use this as our comforter on it's own. It is a little noisy when tossing and turning at night, but overall, I must admit that it is comfy and just about the perfect weight for us. We tend to overheat easily, but we have felt just right temperature wise since using this...granted it has been an unusually cold stretch in our normally moderate to warm climate. So, at the end of the day I would say that this is worth trying--still just not sure about the manufacturer's instructions to wash one time before using...maybe I should have sent this to the dry cleaner.

I didnt realize how overdue I was to replace my down comfortor until this one arrived! It's SO COZY!!! It's the perfect amount of lightness to enjoy year round with out overheating or freezing! I was a bit concerned that it wasnt properly labeled when first opening it - as it doesnt have much info on the outside... it doesnt say organic ANYWHERE!!! BUT the tag on the actual blanket does say Certified Organic "material" ... no mention of Cotton though - the labeling could use some attention. Label or no, It is great quality, with no feathers escaping - and is quite fluffy once it airs out. (It smells a bit like plastic at first, but that goes away pretty quickly)

This duvet is heaven. The fabric is lightweight, breathable, soft, and warm. It's perfect for those chilly nights and giving you the added "weight" of restful sleep. The piped edging and tab/loops are well done, and the duvet seems well sewn overall. I like the double-brushed feel and appreciate its allergy-free quality. It makes you want to stay in bed all day!
