Very sturdy bookshelves, and color is beautiful medium oak. Box is VERY heavy, but well packaged. We got the 84”. I’d say it weighed 80-100 pounds. My husband and I worked together to build it, but one person could possibly do it, just easier with two people. We opened the box on the first floor, and took the pieces upstairs as needed. I am mostly satisfied with these bookcases. They do not really look like wood, but more like a faux finish that is sort of wood-like, but they are still reasonably attractive. My main complaint about them regards the back panels. To fit the bookcases in the boxes the back panels come in three long narrow strips. These strips are taped together then folded up to fit in the box. Unfortunately the styrofoam packing is very crumbly, and little bits of it got between the back panels and stuck to the tape, so there are visible white lines. I tried a few different things to get them out or to color them, but none was completely satisfactory. I ordered three bookcases and had the same issue with all of them. ... show more

I find it REALLY hard to believe that this product has a "10 step polyurethane finish"... the surfaces are all quite rough. Construction seems solid though. But the WORST thing is that the instructions COMPLETELY leave out installing the fixed shelf. Once I discovered the problem, I had to disassemble about 1/2 of the bookshelf in order to insert the fixed shelf and then put it all back together. ... show more

Get ready for styrofoam beads everywhere. The packing particles cover everything. The back is in three pieces held together with transparent tape. A gap is seen between sections.
