  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Tool; not perfect.
This is an excellent tool at a fair price. I have used this for assembly of mitered picutre frames, small wood projects, door and window trim; and kitchen cabinet install. The resultant hole is small and easily filled with the right product to match material. I have shot 1" and 2+" nails. I purchased the Bostitch 16 guage nailer at the same time to install the T&G on the ceiling in my house; it has jammed a few times but otherwise has preformed well. (The Jams are no joke...10 minuets with a few tools and your back in business but man...those nails are IN there) I have seen sparks with both the 16 and 18 guage nailers fly from the tip of the gun when discharging a nail; and I am shooting the recommended Bostitch nails. Always wear eye protection regardless. You can never be too safe with a tool like this. Its a pain in the ass but man will you regret it when you lose an eye. These nailers seem well made to me; the cases are robust and sturdy with space to store nails. The pencil sharpener I use frequently and works very well. I considered the passload cordless nailer; however for less $ I was able to purchase two bostitch nailers and all the nails I need for a year of projects and I'm happy with my choice. This is a light weight tool for its size and preformance. The adjustable depth of nail does work ok; I'd say on average there is about a 3-4mm difference in depth of drive from max in to max out. This varies greatly with the material being used; Example; I was driving 1" 18 guage nails into African Padouk for a cabinet frame and with the depth guage set to drive as deep as possible; pushing hard the nails would drive 3/4 hp husky compressor maxed out at 100 psi and the nails would go about 90-95% of the way to flush. Nail set required to finish off. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Works good.
I bought this to install new baseboard. The old nailer I was using was making an additional mark next to the nail hole. This nailer only leaves the one nail hole indent.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Just like my old one. Works great!
I tried to get a kit that would fit my old gun. I ordered the kit to fix it and it didn’t fit. I bought this one to replace the old broken gun. It works great!

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Nice gun, good price point.
Guys get it! I’m a pro carpenter and use these guns every day. I’ve had older sets of these guns and they’ve performed flawlessly except for a few nail jambs here and there. Bostich makes three different types of 18 ga guns. I decided middle of the road, glad I did! The top dog has this fine point but you don’t really need that if you know how to use these guns accordingly and why pay the premium. This gun has the belt clip which is super nice when doing trim work on a ladder. Also no oil needed. There is absolutely no air blowback off this gun so no worries about peeling eye lids back or pneumatic nose flushes. Fires and feels solid, comes with a decent case. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Replacement
I bought this to replace a 6 year old 18 Gauge Bostich that bit the dust. So far I am fairly happy with it. It's accurate and very easy to use. I find that it actually does leave a mark on the wood so that is why I am giving it 4 stars. Also, I am glad the pencil sharpener is removable. I found it annoying, but was able to take it right off. All in all, a good purchase. ... show more
