So, there are 2 main points to note here. First, the packaging is horrible. There's really no other way to explain this. Seller readily admits that they have poor packaging, but that they need to exhaust all current stock of their packaging before updating to something else. I suppose by their calculations it must be cheaper to send out a replacement mug than to ensure the first one gets there safely. To this point, I can say that the seller indeed does stand behind their product 100%! After contacting them regarding my first mug which arrived in a pile of shards as shown, they immediately sent out a replacement which arrived a day later. EXCELLENT! Something to note here is that although seller packaging isn't very good, the issue is mostly in how Amazon ships the item itself. The first mug came in an envelope! Who puts a fragile ceramic item in an envelope!!? So that part is on Amazon, not the seller. The replacement mug came in the same poor packaging, but was shipped in a BOX which helped to protect it. That came directly from the seller, not Amazon. Second part of review is about the mug itself. This is a very nice mug for the price point. It is a glazed stoneware mug and by most standards, a large one. It has a good feel and can hold nearly 20oz of beverage at 4" wide and 3.5" deep (2 cup measuring glass for scale). The glazing is varied in finish and adds a bit of design detail which of course is subjective to your particular taste. As the pictures show, the top 2 layers of color along with the inside of mug are shiny and smooth, while the bottom part is matte with a duller non shiny finish. This carries through to the handle as well. I can confirm that it can be placed in microwave with no issues. I haven't tried the dishwasher as I washed it by hand, but it does say it's dishwasher safe. Overall, this is a 5 star item that would benefit from better packaging, but is backed up by a solid seller who stands by their product.

I really enjoy my mug. It comfortably holds about 20 oz, 2.5 cups, 600 mL. The exterior is broadly textured and beautifully colored. The first one I received with a crack where the handle meets the mug on the bottom rung. It made the sound of dry ceramic grinding when I picked it up, making me worry the handle would come off any moment. The mug comes with a note assuring that the manufacturer will replace a mug that's received broken. I sent pics of the crack to that email, and after a week also reached out on their Facebook account, but never got any response. I got a replacement via Amazon, and that worked. The new mug is a little wonky and possibly cracked in the same location (bottom rung of the handle) but at least it doesn't crunch. I would personally not rely on the handle to pick it up - it's pretty hefty with liquid in it, anyway. When it's full, I hold it with a hand underneath - which is fine, since I enjoy cuddling an enormous bowl of hot tea.
