  • Plus and minus. Full report.
My truck, due to chip shortage does not have fuel management system and I have not had any drone, zero.. 2022 5.3L Silverado. Install was actually pretty easy. I have never done a CAT back system. The box arrived very beat up but everything was there. Everything fit fine. Initial start up was spine tingling. Sounds great. I had a Magnaflow system years ago. Similar sounding. Very loud start up, but then calms down. From "in the cab" view point I prefer this sound. It has what I would call a sound like it's under water when you let off the gas. NICE. Going down the highway I don't feel it's to loud. Acceleration is as loud as you want depending how you are accelerating. I think it has a good grumble sound. I have read reviews of after a month it tones down. I do not believe mine did. I did not notice. I have previously owned vehicles with glass packs and they change tone after a short while. Minus. Towing it's loud. I spent two days hauling gravel and it was to much noise for to long. But that's rare that i pull things. Final. Happy 100%. I always know my remote start signal was heard when I hear the lion ROAR! ... show more

  • Silverado Z71 Trail Boss 5.3L V8
Installation was easy. As Borla states most people say it takes longer to take off the stock exhaust than to install the system. I found this to be true. It helped to use a sawzall and unbolt the Y pipe to get the stock system out. As for sound. It’s amazing. It’s loud enough to hear but not overbearing. There is no drone and you can barely hear the cylinder selection when it switches between the dynamic fuel management. The S Type was perfect for me. I did a lot of research and time and glad I went with this system. As for the break in, I’ve had it for a few months and in my opinion it got quieter. I’m ok with it since I believe the ECU compensated for it. It’s still plenty loud but not ridiculous. I love opening my windows and hearing the sound. At idle it has the sound you would expect. For power I’ve noticed it in my lower end and it feels more responsive. I was also able to get 25.5 mpg on one of my journeys when I tried to test the fuel mileage. Overall I would highly recommend the system. I’m a very cheap individual but you get the quality and performance you pay for. This definitely made my Trail Boss sounds like the name. ... show more

  • Borla S cat back exhaust for 2021 Silverado AT4
This product is as advertised. The truck sounds awesome but not overkill. It was delivered on time. The one negative is the kit comes with all pipes and clamps except the clamp that clamps the catalytic converter and pipe together. This clamps on GM trucks tend to rust out.

  • Best sounding exhaust hands down!
First off, I never write reviews, but felt like I had to with this exhaust. I usually have a hard time spending this kind of money on an exhaust, but I’m happy I did! This exhaust sounds amazing and absolutely no drone at all! The welds and craftsmanship of this exhaust are second to none. With a million mile warranty how can you go wrong? The hardest part was getting the old exhaust off. I put my truck on four Rhino Ramps and did this on my back in under an hour. That included taking the stock exhaust off and I’m 50 years old! The exhaust fit perfectly! Don’t hesitate spending the cash on this exhaust! ... show more

  • Inconsistent with DFM
Product arrived in timely manner and install went well on my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3. I had watched videos on Borla’s website and decided to go with the S-type over the touring model. Start up sounded good and even acceleration sounds good although a bit louder than what I would have preferred. The problem that I have is I do have DFM equipped on my truck which causes cylinders to turn off to conserve fuel. This makes the exhaust sound very choppy when cruising between 30-45ish mph, almost how a helicopter sounds. Plus, when slowing down to a stop it just surges as it down shifts. I tried contacting the seller and was told that I could not return. I get that to an extent, but I would have worked with them to get a percentage of my cost or would have paid a restocking fee. They still did not want to work with me. The last message I got was along the lines of “people put these on their trucks to make them louder”. This is quite obvious and the reason I wanted but I was not happy with the sounds. There is no drone but very inconsistent tones when downshifting and the DFM feature of my truck. I do not feel comfortable chipping my new vehicle to disable DFM as it would void my warranty. Warning to all those with DFM to probably avoid. I have put my stock exhaust back on and hopefully I can resell this somewhere else to recoup my loss. This may not bother some but hopefully this helps someone that might be on the fence. ... show more

  • What a truck should sould like
Received the system today for my brand new 2020 Silverado 1500 Trail Boss. Directions were good, installation was fast once you take off the factory system. It comes with five exhaust clamps (two 3 inch and 3 smaller clamps). Make sure you use the bigger ones (3 inch) for the muffler, you have to slide these on as you are installing the system, my mistake... The initial start was amazing, night and day difference from stock. No drone, I'm even more impressed with my new truck. Must have... ... show more

  • Amazing!!
Never have I been impressed with putting exhaust on a stock vehicle, after reading reviews I put this exhaust on stock 5.3 Trail Boss. I absolutely love it, wakes the truck up and sounds amazing. Something about that Borla... and every compliments the sound!
