  • Small but sturdy
Works great with my small drill press.

  • Nice Drill press vise
This will suit my needs as a DIYer, I didn't want to pay for a big vise as I don't use it enough. Fair warning though, if you really put a squeeze on it, it does flex more than I'd want for detail work.

  • The jury is out so far but I did resolve the binding folks have complained about.
This is a preliminary review as I've not yet completed my attempt to mount and use this vise but this is what I've found so far. As mentioned in several reviews, the adjustment rod binds with annoying frequency. At least, it did until I removed all the lubricant that was on the guide rods and applied a thin film of wax. I then held a wax bar against the adjustment rod threads and fully worked the rod the full length applying a thin film of wax to those threads. After that both the action via the quick release button and tightening and loosening via the adjustment rod handle worked smoothly and effortlessly with absolutely no binding at all. Also as mentioned in a review (which I wish I had read before I purchased this) the frame distorts significantly as soon as any clamping pressure is applied (watch the plate that holds the quick release knob flex away from the clamp with minimal clamping pressure). This happens with even without rotating the adjustment handle 90 degrees to use it as a lever to apply more clamping pressure. Seeing how much the frame flexes with only light hand tightening I'd be afraid of permanently damaging the frame by using the lever action of the adjustment handle to really clamp down on a work piece. Since I've not yet mounted this I don't know yet if this flexing will affect the precise positioning I want for my work piece. If it does then back this goes and I'll knock off a star. If the work piece position does not shift at all I'll likely keep it and maybe add a star. Stay tuned... ... show more

  • Excellent equipment
It’s quick and easy to set up and use- I mounted it to a 3/4 12x12 board and lock it down on my drill press whenever needed

  • I purchased this vise in mid Sep and it arrived ...
I purchased this vise in mid Sep and it arrived within a couple days. Enough of the superlatives. First one had a loose handle cap floating around in the box and the movable plate did not close evenly on the fixed plate (left side lagged the right by 1/4 inch) so I sent it back for replacement. It took over a week for the replacement to arrive and although the plates closed evenly at first, the first time I turned the handle to apply clamping pressure, the quick release mechanism began slipping. So much for even having a vise. I was going to nix this purchase and ask for a refund, but decided to take one more chance. Product number three arrived within a few days in a used box--probably someone else's return. So far it's working satisfactorily, but based on this experience I would advise others not to set your expectations too high. ... show more

  • Drill Press Vice
This vice is well made enough for small home projects. A great bargain and exactly what I was looking for. You can spen a lot more money and get better if you like. I am happy with this one for what I need. I was a Home Builder and no longer have a real wood shop but for my stupid little projects this vice clamps well and the easy-fast release works great! ... show more

  • Features make it look good, but it's pretty flimsy
The appearance and list of features make this look like a pretty good vise. It is not. Big problem #1: the frame is made of cast material and flexes if you apply any amount of pressure. I mean very moderate pressure, not bearing down. It has the ability to turn the handle sideways to tighten with extra torque - I would not dare, I believe the frame would break immediately under any real pressure. Because the frame flexes, you cannot be sure that your hole (when drilling with a drill press) will be vertical - it will more likely be tilted several degrees. This is ok for hack work, but not for anything that needs any degree of precision. Problem #2: the movable jaw fit to the guide rods is very sloppy, so the jaw is free to tilt/wander of off vertical. Combined with the flexing of the frame, you can forget any degree of vertical alignment accuracy. Problem #3: my vise had a rough trip and one of the 2 guide rods was completely loose in the package. The 8-32 screw that is suppsed to hold it in place had sheared off. The screw is too small for the job - so don't you dare drop this vise and let it land on the guide rod(s). Problem #4: the guide rods protrude out of the rear of the vise (as shown in the picture), which I found to make them interfere with use on the drill press. Luckily they are held in place by 2 (flimsy) screws; took those out, cut the rods flush, replaced. Much better, nothing out the backside to get in the way. TL;DR flimsy, inaccurate. Only good for very light jobs where accuracy is not important. Very light, which is nice - but also a drawback. Not recommended, still looking for a decent vise. ... show more

  • Great little vice for workbench or drill press
Bora Drill Press Vise Bora 551027 I bought this to use on my small drill press, but have ended up bolting it to my workbench. Will buy another for the drill press. The first one I got actually broke the second time I was using it. It was replaced immediately and without question. So far the second one has worked very well. Because it uses two bolt/screws to tighten the vice, the pressure is more even so holds better than those with a single bolt/screw setup. The one thing that could be better is the release. When you are trying to loosen the vice, it does not work as well as it should, but that is a small thing to me. ... show more
