When it is finally assembled it is OK but the assembly was difficult and had to resort to carefully hammering the shelves in place. One shelf became slightly damaged but with wood glue a was able to repair it. Luckily it was the bottom one so it doesn’t show. I would not purchase again.

I really like this bookcase. I actually used it for a different purpose than what it's for. I put it in my pantry and use it to store drinks. When it's absolutely packed with drinks, it's still rock solid stable with no indication of tipping over. It was also very easy to assemble. It took me around 15 minutes. This item is a great little etagere for adding organization and style to smaller spaces. It was a breeze to put together and although it's listed as a bookcase, it can double up as a nice piece to showcase your ornaments, picture frames, wine bottles, etc. Good option for bedrooms and even bathrooms where you might need storage. It feels sturdy, but might be good to attach it to the wall for stabilization. The mixture of wood and metal is nice - makes a modern item. I have a very narrow strip of wall between a room and a door, and I wanted a place where I could put my outdoor shoes so they would be accessible at the door (so I can change them right there and not drag outdoor debris into my home). This bookshelf fit that space perfectly, and the top shelf is the perfect height for my shoes because it's too high for my cats to comfortably attempt to jump there. The cats get to use all the other shelves, and do so regularly even though they are too narrow for sleeping. I did not use the anti-tipping hardware because I found it unappealing, but I am considering options for mounting this directly to the wall so that it can be off the floor and I don't have to move it to clean under it. Visually, it looks very nice. I'm not a huge fan of the metal bars being in many small pieces as opposed to having two large continuous pieces because no matter how you display it the screw heads are visible. There were a couple of places where I was unable to affix a piece per the instructions because the holes were not drilled or were drilled on the wrong side. All the same, it went together pretty easily, the wood has that real-wood texture, and I'm getting really good use out of it. Now I just need to see how it will hold up to water damage from my cat that marks everything. ... show more

As you can see in my photo it comes it pieces. The metal on metal connection points were easy enough to hand tighten with the larger hex key, but screwing into the holes in the wood I was very happy to have an electric screw driver. They’re long screws that take work to put in and there’s lots of them. The instructions were easy to follow, and once you get going, there’s only one direction you can put on future pieces. The reason I marked it down is that it seems that my very top pieces had some of their metal to metal connection holes points pointing the wrong direction. If that’s not true, I may have flipped one of the base pieces the wrong direction. There’s enough other screws that It wasn’t worth undoing the whole thing. Still, I’d recommend before you start assembling, see if you can match the top pieces to the bottom pieces to determine the correct facing, and use that information to start building (or if you got incorrectly placed holes, to contact the company or return before assembling). ... show more
