Description

Bondo Glass Reinforced Filler makes an excellent foundation for hole, dent and rust-out repairs without the need for backing strips, cloths and resins. It contains short, interlocking fiberglass strands and fibers that make it stronger than regular body filler. It is also slightly thicker and provides a fast drying time, making the filler less messy on vertical surfaces like car doors.

Mom of two here, I grabbed this Bondo after my husband backed our van into a trash can. Metal was dented and scraped. Money for body shops is tight right now, so I watched a few videos during nap time and tried it myself. Mixing the filler and hardener felt a bit like frosting a cake, just faster and I had to work quickly before it set. I spread it on, sanded after the kids went to bed, then sprayed paint the next afternoon. The spot on our sliding door now looks smooth and you barely notice anything in the school pick-up lane. I've heard about Bondo since I was a kid (we're talking the 50's here) in jokes about patched up beater cars. Never bought or used it before but, wow, this stuff works great. Easy to work with but dries rock hard fairly quickly and ready for sanding. I've used it around the house too, awesome for patching drywall, etc. Great stuff! ... show more

Watch a video before using this stuff. There are several on the internet. Bondo has been around forever. So much so, its name is ubiquitous with epoxy resin products. I had never used it, but I needed to fill in holes in a wooden door where I switched the swing from in to out. The stuff works well, when mixed properly. The instructions are horrible. They tell you little to nothing on how to use it or mix it. So, on my first round I used too much hardener which turns it bright blue, becomes brittle and does not set up properly. I had to remove it with wood chisel and re-sand. You only use 2% hardener to the mix. That is a tiny amount. When mixed properly with blue hardener, it will be very light sea-green. How you mix it is also important. Spread thinly across a plastic or glass surface to minimize air bubbles. In other words, don’t stir it up with a stick, use a flat spreader. Last, the smell has a high VOC. Use a quality mask, and it lingers for about 10 hours. Not a very good product for indoors, and by far one of the strongest smelling products I’ve ever used. After retiring from teaching, I finally had time to deal with the little dents on my old Honda instead of asking my son every time. This Bondo kit was part of a birthday “project basket” my daughter put together, and it turned into a fun afternoon in the driveway. i watched a short video, mixed the filler and hardener on an old lid, and it spread smoothly with a putty knife. It dried faster than my coffee cooled. I sanded it while listening to the radio, then touched up the paint.
