  • Rehab your old QC25s.
Color: Black
Review is for the Bose QC25 adapter. My Bose QC25 has not been used for some time now due to the ear pads disintegrating and damage to the original cord. I decided to rehab them for a trip with about 6 hours of flight time each way. I bought the Bolle and Raven bluetooth adapter in combination with replacement ear pads from Wicked Cushions and a Bose OEM audio cable with 4 contacts. Very pleased. Pros - Lightweight and sleek. Do not even notice it is there. - Independent volume control (big plus; the volume control only adjusts the headphone volume level not the overall device volume). - Buttons are recognizable to the touch and mostly make sense. - Sound is equatable to corded. - Can still fold headphones into case with it attached. Cons - Volume and Play/Pause buttons are a bit too close to one another. Still easy to use, but a bit more space would make them faster to use without having to feel it over. - Have to unplug from headphones to charge (charge cable is 3.5mm connector to usb). - No battery indicator relayed to devices. Observations All observations were made using an iPhone SE (3rd Gen) and an iPad Pro 10.5". Sound- perhaps debatable. I switched back and forth from corded to the adapter and did not detect any noticeable difference. Hard to be sure as the process required a moment to switch from one to the other. Any differences I thought I noticed may have been illusory. Did not test back and forth with calls. Fit- the unit inserted snugly into place. I did not experience any looseness. Not difficult to insert or remove. Build- the quality is good if your are treating the headphones and unit with respect. Battery- I did not test the battery to full drain, but used it for most of a 6 hour flight with no sign it was about to stop. Range- Their site claims up to 30ft of range, but mine went further as follows: iPhone SE: Indoors going through 2 walls to outdoors location- 33ft Outdoors straight line of sight- approx 100ft iPad Pro 10.5: Indoors going through 2 walls to outdoors location- 40ft Outdoors straight line of sight- approx 78ft (The range footages are subjective and determined at a point where a downloaded podcast started to reliably become too spotty. The iPad performed better at broadcasting through walls while the iPhone SE performed better at line of sight.) Conclusion For the purposes I needed it to serve, this was a great way to help resurrect some good, old headphones. I wanted them for noise cancelling while flying, doing housework or really anything else without risking any newer headphones. I procured the Bolle and Raven QC25 adapter, replacement ear pads from Wicked Cushions and a replacement 4-contact Bose OEM audio cable at a cost of around $98 USD total. Would recommend to anyone that asks. ... show more

  • Good Bluetooth Adapter for Bose QC-25 that could have been great
Color: Black
Overall, I am happy with the AirMod Wireless Bluetooth Adapter for Bose QuietComfort 25 Headphones. The basic function - providing a Bluetooth connection to my device so I can listen to output without a cord - works well. Pros: The positive experience started with the packaging. It is professional and well executed. The device fits perfectly on the ear cup. Very secure and the curve of the device perfectly matches the curve of the ear cup. The device is slim enough that even attached, the head phones still fit in the case. Buttons are easy to identify by touch. Pairing with an iPhone X was quick and easy. Volume of the music was much better than I had anticipated. I was able to easily hear music while mowing the lawn or pressure washing without even having to turn it up to maximum. The sound is much clearer and somewhat louder when the noise cancellation on the QC-25 is on, but this occurs when connected via a cord as well. Cons: The primary reason for the deduction of one star is the charging methodology. Having to unplug the device to attach the proprietary cable, while not a deal killer, is annoying and seems unnecessary. It also means I have to keep up with this extra cable which again is annoying and seems unnecessary. Why they didn't just put a standard micro USB port on the outside baffles me. It would be nice if there was an app to allow me to see how much charge is left on the battery. Without that, I tend to charge it after every use, which considering I only tend to use it for a few hours at a time is probably not needed. Other: I only use it with my phone so it only be able to be connected to one device at a time isn't an issue for me. I could see where if I were connecting it to a TV or home audio system, not having it also connected to the phone simultaneously could warrant another star reduction. * Update * After a year and a half, I still love this adapter. Sound quality, volume, durability have been great. I did have a little issue - when I would plug in the adapter to charge it, the red LED would not illuminate. After a while of being left plugged in, the green LED would illuminate and the adapter would in fact be fully charged. I contacted Bolle&Raven customer service and they provided a replacement, no questions asked. Because of the exceptional customer service, I updated the rating from four stars to five. ... show more
