This product is great to have in your rehab toolbox, but it's still not a replacement for a good massage or physical therapy. Sometimes when I need a specific knot worked out in my neck or back, this does just enough to take the edge off. It does take some work to get the tool in just the right position depending on where you need relief, but it definitely helps. I bought this to work (I work in a nursing home) and almost every coworker tried it on their painful upper trapz (shawl muscle in the upper back), helping relieve some of their pain. A patient's daughter saw me using it and ordered one of her own, the smaller version, and she said she heard a pop the first time she used it on her back/shoulder muscles, and then her acute pain disappeared. As for me, I still occ. feel the pain as I have bad posture and lift heavy people at work. But this tool ( we call it old lady stick at work) really relieves the worst pain. ... show more

I have been breaking the back buddy out every once in a while over the last ten years of owning it. Always feels good to dig around in my shoulders. However, the real magic just seriously happened for me recently. I’ve been plagued for four years by SI pain, and I’ve tried everything (yoga, massage, meds, acupuncture, strength training, etc…). More recently I started seeing something called the hip hook on all my feeds that sounded like the perfect fix. But $200?! I got my back buddy out and started playing around and I cannot believe the relief!! I use the two small straight branches and work into the spot near the front of my pelvis while I’m lying down on my back (kind of the reverse of what the hip hook instructions show), and I work my iliacus and psoas muscles for a few minutes on both sides twice a day. In the beginning I could literally feel the muscles squirming as they relaxed. For the first time in years I don’t have a dull ache in my left SI. I can tell that my hips have loosened. I think it has a knock-on effect as I’m feeling looser in my neck as well (though that might also be because I’m working the neck). And I guess that’s what so great about the tool. It’s so versatile. The two little close-together nubs are perfect for the knots at the base of my skull. I also like to work the bottoms of my feet with the nubs on the ends. If you have a muscle, this thing can do something for it. I’m so glad I didn’t spend the money on yet another device. This has been a very good, long-term purchase. This thing is big! Takes a bit of getting used to, needs it's own hook, but it hits the spots; I can't reach under and around the shoulder blade, and the applied pressure areas on either side of the neck. Now, it doesn't do what pressure point human professionals can do, but it works really well and fast in a pinch. I wish it was smaller, a bit easier to handle, but it works, and that's what matters most. It's thick heavy solid plastic, and I don't see it breaking. Honestly, this thing could be used as a weapon. The booklet was meh, promo pictures basically. Didn't have any interaction with the company online, so I can't speak to that. Shipping box was narrow and big, no bubble wrap, just item in plastic bag. Box was a bit damaged, but the Buddy survived, not a scratch. This is much much better than using a tennis ball and a wall for those bottled-up strained muscles. I looked and tried several models and designs, and for the price [$30] this was the best product. I've had my Back Buddy Massager for about 5 years now. I figured it might be time to write a little review. I have fibromyalgia and the muscles in my back become so tight, they feel like bricks. Before this product, I use to attempt pressing my back against the edges of the walls, where 2 walls come together. Then one day, I saw this advertised while scrolling around on the internet. I took a gamble. Needless to say, I have not had to shimmy against a wall in years. This, when used consistently during a flare up, loosens the muscles enough that I can stretch them out. It does a fine job when there isnt a massage therapist to call on. I do my shoulder blade muscles the most, but also use it on my neck, have used it on my feet and also the backs of my legs. I;; admit I was skeptical at first, especially considering the price, and when it arrived, I thought, I paid for THIS?! But it has paid for itself many times over in the relief it has given me. ... show more

This has been a Godsend. I pulled a romboid in my back working out and can't reach it because I am out of shape and not flexible anymore(irony). This thing is awesome. Seems very durable and perfect for applying pressure to spots you can or can't reach.
