I enjoy using these lovely mugs. I had used their chunkier mugs before, and had some trouble with breakage. So far so good with these (although between my klutziness, and my two jostling dogs and three curious cats, a very long life is against the odds). They are lightweight, and have a more elegant form to my eye. They claim to keep the coffee warmer with double walled insulation - that may be true but I haven't noticed too much of a difference. They are made from borosilicate glass. They are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe to 350 degrees according to the manufacturer. Also freezer safe according to their little green checkmark. I could see them being lovely parfait or sundae glasses but experience with the chunky mugs has let me know you'd want to be quite careful with them. I would take care with any utensils and avoid extreme temperature changes. According to the FAQ on the website: Borosilicate Glass: "Characteristics: High rigidity, good elastic qualities, low water absorptive capacity, compact and dense. BPA free. Dishwasher safe." Also from the website: "BODUM® owns and operates a factory in Portugal and also utilizes facilities in Germany, Poland and China which meet and operate under the same social responsibility guidelines as our own factory." Am I cynical if I am now picturing these all made in China? (Most of the Chinese people I have met have been lovely, but I am not so thrilled with their government. I hope their statement about social responsibility is correct.) I don't think I would pay more than the $30 I paid for the two. ... show more

I have been using Bodum mugs since the 1980s. These double walled tall mugs insulate very well and do not sweat so coasters are a thing of the past. They are a bit more fragile than plastic or metal insulated mugs, but we have dropped them and banged these in the dishwasher and they have held together. Still, I bought these as replacements for broken mugs bought 20 years ago. The handle and shape are very functional. Too bad there is no way to stack them, but they are so beautiful, who cares? ... show more

One cup came broken but Amazon was great at replacing it. The glasses are fragile and will break over time. My last mug broke when someone dropped a metal spoon into the mug and broke the inner wall. My mug lasted me 13 months of frequent daily use. Great mug though. I loved it when I had it...Considering getting another set. ... show more

I bought these about a year ago. I was afraid they might be very fragile, but they've held up great in the dishwasher (but I do use bamboo spoons with them - a requirement I discovered after cluelessly using metal spoons for a week or two, luckily with no bad effects). I have a set of two and use them a couple times daily for lattes. I can actually putter around doing housework while drinking from them occasionally and my coffee is still warm when I get back to it! With most other mugs, I can't seem to finish a cup of coffee without it being cold from my having to jump up and deal with some crisis or another. Plus, they look great and professional next to my espresso maker. I have a set of the espresso lungo mugs and those too are great, though they get a little less use. ... show more

I love these cups. I have been using insulated glass coffee cups for many years with great success. However, recently one seal broke on one of my older cups and then my husband dropped the other. Time for a new set. I ordered these Bodum Canteen cups because they are slightly shorter than my last set and fit perfectly in my Nespresso machine, which was a bit of a problem before. These are a little shorter and squatter, so they fit under the spout of the coffee maker perfectly and still hold the same amount of liquid. I also really like the fact that they have a silicone seal which should eliminate the other problem I had with my other cups which is that the seal cracked after repeated dishwashing. I only have these a couple of weeks so I am not sure about durability, but so far I am very happy. ... show more

Ordered the Bodum cups despite some negative reviews regarding breakage. They arrived in their own box; packaged with 2 other items that were not breakable. The Bodum cups box did not seem to be damaged, but could hear a tinkling sound when i moved the box. Both cups were individually wrapped with bubble wrap. One cup seems to be OK, but the other was broken, so did not unwrap it and just threw it out. Don't know if the broken one was damaged during shipping or if it already had a defect before shipping. Will keep an eye on the 'good' cup to see if it holds up - it looks great but is lighter (as in weight) than i expected. ... show more
