This QLOOASEA Boat Stern Light is a great find. This light is bright, waterproof, lightweight, and it extends to 48 inches. The light is very bright and can be seen from a great distance but I am not sure about 3 nautical miles. I like that there is a base that you can plug the light into and, when you need it out of your way, you can unplug it. It was fairly easy to install with the attached wires and it comes with an extra bulb. I wasn't sure that a lightweight light could hold up after being extended all the way out, but this one does.
