  • Very pleasantly surprised!
Color: B7248-black/G-15 Polarized Lens Color: Glass lens
I'm a self-described sunglasses nerd. I've owned dozens of pairs of sunglasses over the years and I'm VERY fussy, especially when it comes to lenses. So when my beater glasses (my beloved Revo Crux C shades) finally got too smudged and scratched to be of use anymore, I went looking for something affordable but still good. My Revos eventually succumbed to sweat and oils, which worked their way into the micro pores of the polycarbonate lenses, producing a haze which I couldn't get rid of, no matter how many well I cleaned them. So my criteria this time around was GLASS lenses, not polycarbonate (plastic). I'm not opposed to plastic lenses per se... they have their place in the world and have certain advantages, such as being lighter in weight and naturally blocking UV light, even before the UV treatment is applied. But this time, since I was looking for shades that could take sweat and sunscreen being dripped on them, as I'll be using them working outside around the house, I opted for glass lenses, under the assumption that they would be easier to clean. Most shades with glass lenses are fairly expensive though. I didn't want to spend a lot, since these will be subject to abuse and harsh conditions. So I figured I'd give these a try, honestly not expecting much. WOW, was I pleasantly surprised! When I put them on, I almost yanked them off again to check and make sure I wasn't sent a pair of Smith Techlites instead. The view through these lenses is startlingly crisp, clear, and pleasant. I ordered black frames with G-15 lenses, which are fairly neutral with a slight greenish tint. The literature claims they allow 12% light transmission, which is fairly dark, but compared to other lenses they don't appear super dark. Lack of clarity can contribute to a false perception of darkness, so my theory is that because these are so clear, the world appears a little brighter than it would when looking through cheaper lenses with the same transmission rate. There are numerous ways to measure lens performance, but without getting too technical, these just jumped into my number 2 favorite glass among brands I've tried: 1) Smith Techlite 2) These (with Corning G-15) 3) Ray Ban Chromance silver mirror 4) Ray Ban Chromance blue 5) Serengeti 555nm 6) Persol blue polarized 7) Costa 580g grey 8) Persol blue non-polarized The frames are pretty good quality as well. Nothing special, but they appear sturdy and the hinges are reasonably robust. I wouldn't expect any problems. Stylish? No, not really, but then again, no wraps are stylish. Show me a pair of wraps and I'll show you a dude who thinks he looks cool but, in reality, very definitely does not. Trust me, I was that dude for years. That being said, wraps do have some things going for them - they are more protective, both from flying debris, as well as sunlight sneaking in around the perimeter. So they're great for working outside, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Just try not to wear them in public unless you want to look like a dufus. Fit wise, they hug tight to the face. I have kind of a large head and somewhat flat face, so I often have trouble with glasses bumping the tops of my cheeks. These do that a little bit, but it's not bad and thus tolerable enough that I'm definitely going to keep them. With a vague name like BNUS, I was expecting them to be made in China and dumped on Amazon. But they claim to be "Italy made" and the parent company (Bini Optics) seems to be based in Chicago. So whatever. Somebody apparently got the idea to produce decent quality frames and outsource lens production to Corning. Frankly, this was a stroke of brilliance. I'll definitely be checking out some of their other models. My only advice to the company would be to change their name... what kind of a name is BNUS?? ... show more

  • One of the Best Buys
Color: B7248-black/G-15 Non-polarized Lens Color: Glass lens
I have many sunglasses, RayBan(USA), Oakley, Serengeti, AO, are my favorites. I'm impressed with BNUS, Corning glass lenses. Are they as good as the old RayBan? Maybe not 100%, but 90+%, at 20% of the price!! Lens guality is A+. The fit is good. Comes with a hardcase. Italian made!! Just not sure how durable the frame is. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Narrow at the nose bridge.
Color: B7248-black/G-15 Polarized Lens Color: Glass lens
They are solid, well made nice lenses, good polarization. Everything is fine, except the nose bridge is narrow, and it makes them feel too small or narrow on my face. I will use them as I said they are well constructed and I guess the narrow style help them fit better underneath my ball cap. That would be my one complaint that it could be a little wider at the nose. ... show more

  • High Quality Optics for Cheap Sunglass Price
Color: Black Blue / G-15 Polarized Lens Color: Glass lens
I needed a pair of general use shades so that I don't have to wear my designated ski shades all the time. I have been a fan of a different company's model for some time, but that company no longer manufactures the frame I like, so their price has risen beyond my "economy" sunglass threshold. Also, those particular models had polycarbonate lenses. I have always preferred glass lenses to polycarb, because they are much more resistant to scratching, and they do not distort the image at the edge of the lens. Thus far, I have been extremely happy with these sunglasses. Although the lens shape is not what I would typically look for, they have performed exact;y as I would expect from quality eyewear. The fit is snug, but the frames do not have any of the usual "pressure points" where they may be a little too tight. The lenses are very clean, with a clear field of vision from edge to edge, and very little color distortion. They are glare-free at all sun angles, even very acute angles that typically cause lower quality lenses to add some haze to your view. I chose the blue tinted lens in the non-polarized configuration, because I don't spend a lot of time on the water. The lens shade is somewhere between a Ray Ban green and a very brown tinted amber, and they are not so dark that they won't work in low light scenarios like driving while it's overcast, or at dawn or dusk when there are lots of shadows. I have only had them a couple weeks, but I am really impressed with the quality. I have a hunch I may be looking at some more in the future. ... show more

  • Excellent
Color: Tortoise Frame/Green Mirrored Polarized Lens Color: Glass lens
Very nice shades for the price. Polarization is great. I can see fish in darker areas much better then with poly lenses.

  • Nice lens but the frame is too fragile
Color: B7248-black/Silver Mirrored Polarized Lens Color: Glass lens
I like this pair of sunglasses. Fits nicely. Lens is good. Does its job well. But...the frame turned out to be rather fragile. I had taken care of this pair. Always back into the case when not in use. Never abused. But the frame holding the glass lens broke when I "squeezed" it between my forehead and the door frame of my car as I was leaning in. No injury whatsoever to my forehead. It was truly just a "squeeze". And that was enough to break the frame and a lens dropped out. But I put it back together with a drop of super glue. Still, I do expect a better quality frame. So 2 stars because the frame material quality is lousy. 19th Jan 2024 Update to the review. BNUS very graciously got in touch with me with regards to the broken frame. The company offered to replace the product for free and I want to let the buying public know that I received the new pair from them via UPS. It is very good to know that BNUS stands behind their product. So I am updating the rating from 2 stars to 5. ... show more

  • Great glass but be careful with the coatings.
Color: Black-red/G-15 Polarized Lens Color: Glass lens
I do like the vision quality of the glass elements in these sunglasses versus cheaper plastic. I figured they would also be more durable but within a few months of having them the coatings on one of the lenses already got scratched up, and I was trying to be cautious with them by always having them in their pouch when not being used. I presume I must have tucked them into a pocket at some point unprotected and something rubbed against them. Just be super cautious to ALWAYS keep them protected. It's alot of money over standard plastic. ... show more
