I bought this to use with my Audi OEM roof bars, since both use an inverted T bolt to hold the carrier to the bars (and I believe it is all made by Thule for BMW and Audi respectively). Unfortunately for me, Audi uses a 20mm x 20mm head on the T-Bolt and BMW uses a 24mm x 30mm, so the BMW did not fit out of the box in the Audi rail. Luckily, my dremel tool with some reinforced cutting wheels was handy and I quickly cut the BMW down to 20mm x 30mm, and they easily fit in the Audi slot. The carrier itself is well made and looks good and was much less expensive than other carriers I looked at that fit using a T-Bolt in a slot, so all-in-all I am pleased with the product. The only "downside" is that cruiser type bikes with really fat tires don't fit as well in the U shape of the rail but it still works. Our Elektra Townie bikes have no problem. The Elektra Daisy bike has fatter tires and while it works, it is not as easy or good a fit as the Townie which have slightly narrower tires. ... show more

This is my second tray, since I bought my wife a bike. It is factory setup to be accessible from the passenger side, which is where I attached my bike. When I got the second tray, I wanted my bike on the driver's side and I was trying to finagle the correct position by keeping the trays in the same direction (curve side facing forward). The tray is easy to disassemble and adjust. However, for the life of me, I couldn't get the tray positioned correctly due to the frame style of my bike. The straps wouldn't line up or would be at an angle. So, to make my life easier, I just swapped the tray backwards, looks dumb, but it works lol. Also, I could have had the tray facing forward (with the arm swapped) if I wasn't being vain and wanted my bike on the driver's side. lol UPDATE: The straps saved my bike! I bought a new downhill bike which is around 40lbs. The frame has a steep angle and the frame clamp isn't at a great angle, but doable. I never had an issue, but this time around I didn't pay attention or double-checked enough and my bike released itself! Luckily the bike didn't fall off completely, it fell to the side (driver's) and scared me, but my bike was held on by the wheel straps! I got a little damage on my car, but it could have been worse. For this bike, I will get a strap and wrap it around the frame clamp and the frame to prevent it from falling again. ... show more

I bought two of the bike racks. They fit perfectly into the crossbars on my 2013 128i. Each rack has three snaps that hold it in place, one requires a key. The arm that secures to the bike frame also locks, so no one can steal the bike or the bike rack off your car. The racks also have rubber belts that hold the wheels firmly in the track, even fat tires. Remember to remove the rubber from the crossbars to install the bike rack(s) on top. Easy install. Only thing I dislike is it only loads from the right side. I don’t know if you can flip the rack to make it load from the left to make it easier to load the drivers side bike.
