For painters, during water/flood restoration, construction, crawlspaces and attics, remodels, painting, sewage, remediation, fire damage restoration, water damage restoration. For men and women who spend a great deal of time in dusty environments, air quality and related health complications are a constant concern and should be a top priority. The BlueDri Air Shield 550 (AS-550) provides a convenient and effective solution. The Air Shield 550 is equipped with 3 separate filtration stages to protect your health and well- being. Whether you suffer from allergies or are on a dusty job site, this air scrubber is a must-have for environments with contaminated air. The Air Shield 550 has a wide array of features for greater convenience during use. An LED light indicator notifies you when the intake filter should be changed and a variable speed control mechanism allows you to adjust the power and speed at which the filter operates. Some of the other features include a daisy chain- compatible GFCI port and an hour meter display. Each unit is made with an easily stackable design to save space at your job site or shop as it cleans the air. I’m a home owner in the middle of a construction project. The dust from the demo and dry wall sanding, cutting etc was making me cough and giving me some shortness of breath. I was also getting upset about the chemical smells in the house from paint primer, glues, etc. So I decided to try this unit. At the time of purchase I decided to also buy more of the regular filters (i think they are called B filters) , and some of the carbon filters, because apparently the carbon filters remove chemicals and chemical smells from the air. So all in all I spent like $900-$1000. My feeling is that if a $1000 investment keeps my lungs and my mitochondria healthier, I’m 100% in! So the first thing I noticed was you just plug in and turn on. It’s really that easy. But like I said, I did buy the carbon filters so I installed that, and when I say install I mean just place inside and shut the door. Again, very easy! I put the machine on full speed, left the house for several hours and when I came home the air was 100% cleaner and a huge percentage of the smell in the air was gone. I plan to run this in my house non stop until the entire construction project is done. I wish I had bought it earlier because it does not pick up all the dust that is already settled. It only picks up dust that is floating through the air. If I had installed it earlier it would have prevented a lot of this mess! ... show more

Great machine ,b air filters work with unit. Unsure where to get factory ones. (Response would be nice bluair) So far used as a negative air and as an air scrubber on different jobs. Seals seem to clamp well, dont have aparticle counter to test Easy enough to clean, plastic does have some complex shapes and sharp corners , disposable damp blue cloths do a good job. Just a home owner. Anything that mitigates dust is a huge plus remodeling where a person lives. Can be a bit louder on high setting for scrubbing. Not loud at all on low for negitive air Expensive, my homebrew machine is cheaper and quieter but this one is smaller and lighter (90 vs 40lbs) Dont run a shop vac from plugin the machine, the integrated circuit breaker will pop and needs to be reset Can be used as a hkme purifier, just there is quieter models to choose from. ... show more

I’ve had this machine for a few days now. First off, it is not that loud, any complaints about it being very loud are ridiculous. I was actually surprised at its noise level because I had been expecting it to be so much louder based on some reviews. People need to remember that this thing can change 550 cubic feet per minute so it’s really moving air! Second off, this machine really does work! Even my wife commented that the air felt cleaner and somehow lighter and fresher after running the machine on full power for about an hour or so. I’d never used one of these hepa air scrubbers before we bought this but it has definitely lived up and exceeded expectations and my hopes. I highly recommend it. And what’s nice is it is fully compatible with B-air brand filters so finding filters that fit isn’t difficult at all. ... show more

Used for some drywall, woodworking, sanding projects then got positive, ran it 24/7 and no one else in the household got it so I'd say that it worked well. As others said the prefilters are obnoxiously sized and the clamps to hold them are stiff.

    • Greatly improved our air quality so we could stay in our home during mold issues

We had a slow chimney/roof leak after getting a new roof in 2011, and didn't know it. So, the whole wall behind our fireplace was full of mold and we were getting really sick, even our dogs. We got this unit and were able to stay in our house while the roof was getting fixed. After the water dried out in the wall, the mold died, we were advised how to completely kill the mold. So, we drilled 6, 1-inch holes in the wall above our fireplace mantel- 3 on each side- and spray several cans of Lysol (hospital grade, but still had a strong smell) into those holes and into the gap behind one side of the mantel by the window (where the mold smell had been the strongest). Now, this air scrubber is helping us get the Lysol smell & chemicals out of the air, and all we need to do now is patch up the holes and paint the wall. This whole process took about 2 months, and I ordered extra filters off Amazon Prime, including carbon & pre-filters, to continue to scrub the air when we're asleep and away from home. https://www.amazon.com/B-Air-Scrubber-Stage-Filter-Purifiers/dp/B06X6GGYHT?th=1 This should remove any extra Lysol particles and dead mold particulate. All-in-all, much cheaper than renting this for 2 months, even after buying new filters. And, we didn't have to pay to leave during remediation.     • How do you quantify a dust free construction zone

I'm a homeowner how tries to do as much as possible on my own. This tool is invaluable. I bought it because I replaced all the moulding in my home, and wanted a professional look. I decided to spray all the casing and mouldings, so I purchased the BlueDri BD-AS-550-BL . I wanted to reduce the airborne particles generated by the sprayer. Let me tell you there is no substitute. This thing paid for itself immediately. I didn't have to worry about the fine dust getting everywhere. The next thing I did was skim coat my living room and again, there was almost no air borne dust when I was done. It's highly recommended. I want to address some of the other reviews. One person said the filter was an odd size. It is not. It takes a 16 x 16 x 1 filter. Actual filter size is 15.75 x 15.75 x .75 and many manufacturers produce this filter size. Another wrote that it's heavy. I say head to the gym. It's not heavy. It can be easily moved around. Another mentions how loud it is. I will say it's loud on the highest setting, but not louder than a dewalt table saw, or even my 1.75 HP Vacuum. It's not as loud as my ridgid shop vac. ... show more
