I was not sure if I should buy this expensive microphone for my recordings. So I tried many inexpensive ones. One of which gave great output— as good a ps yeti. And then after much use, I decided I needed a back-up, and this one dropped in price. Now I see why it is expensive: 1. Consistent high quality: others, even the best ones, need to be tweaked and tested to make sure you get the best quality. Such as, sometimes the cable or a device may be touching the stand, which immediately gives vibrations causing background noise. Yeti stand is heavy and solid, with gyros, that it does not seem easily disturbed by slight vibrations. 2. No moving screen: others have a mesh screen in front of the mic, which, if it touches the mic, causes background noise. Not here. That screen is built-in with proper separation. 3. Stays put: the heavy stand and is not easily moved by small accidents, like the mouse cable being pulled or a slight tap. And when not in use, it does not get ‘disturbed’, like others that are suspended delicately on rubber bands that sometimes slide off, causing background noise. So, this one is more dependable. 4. Looks ultra professIonal: I do not mind if it happens to appear in the picture. No more struggles to remove it from the frame and yet have it close enough for higher quality. 5. One ‘con’: You have to keep ‘Mic gain’ to 30% or so, if your recording is of your voice only. Else it captures the full range of background: such as audience participation, traffic sounds, etc. Although I bought it as a ‘back up’, it is now my primary microphone. I hope it lasts for years to come… looks like it is built to last. ... show more

I bought this microphone because I had some college projects to do last year, which turned out super well in the end. I might have a future in podcasting, or similar, so I decided to keep it. It's a solid product, but the only reason why I won't give it 5 stars, is because it doesn't come with a pop filter, which is noticeable in the sound quality. You can control the gain, which is very responsive, you can control the output volume, and you can control the pickup pattern, which is super handy. I like this microphone a lot, and use it with Audacity, and it serves me well, especially in my visual type of graduate program. ... show more

Absolutely fan freaking tastic! I’m extremely impressed with the quality of this mic. I have been using headsets and cheap microphones for years. So to go to this was extremely exciting and boy does it deliver. The sound quality is crystal clear and the different settings are incredible. It’s great for podcasts, singing, interviews, streaming, asmr and much much more. Great amazing mic and I couldn’t recommend this enough. Also this is not cheaply made. The entire thing is made of metal except for a few knobs. The base is rubberized so it won’t fall off the table. It’s really heavy but it’s a quality piece. I highly recommend it.
