This is among my favorite chai mixes. My sister makes chai from spices she brought back from a 6 month journey through India. That's the best chai I've ever had. It's also the most time consuming chai to make, involving multiple steps and cooking in a saucepan over an oven range. But this is a reasonable substitute considering it's so ridiculously easy to make. Add water, a little milk or half and half, and sweetener of choice, et viola! Delicious chai in seconds! I've attempted a variety of creations with this mix trying to get it just right but I must confess I've not mastered it though I'm halfway through my second jar. Here are my tips for making a great tasting chai using Blue Lotus brand Chai. First, feel free to experiment. The directions instruct you to mix 4oz of water with this mix until throughly mixed together. Then add 4oz of milk and heat. This works really well but doesn't need to be the way you make your chai every time. Try a variety of different things until you find something that you like or becomes your favorite. Second, make sure it's mixed in really well. Not many people really enjoy coffee grounds in their coffee or the loose leaf of tea getting stuck in their teeth. I know I don't. Make sure you mix the chai really well with hot water before adding sweetener or milk. If you don't you'll end up with quite a bit of the grains at the bottom of the cup which can make for a poor last sip. It also means your chai didn't disintegrate to give you full flavor, which means you're probably using more chai than necessary to get good flavor. Don't be too hasty. Take your time. If you don't stir it in really well you may end up regretting it later on. Finally, you won't get 100 cups out of this. The packaging claims you'll get 100 cups out of this can of chai. It comes with a small wooden spoon (which honestly adds a nice touch to the experience) which is made to hold the 1/4 teaspoon of the chai blend you're supposed to use in the directions on the can. Depending on how you mound the chai and how strong or weak you like it, you won't be getting the 100 cups out of this can like it claims. But don't worry too much about that. even if you only get 50 cups you're still getting a great deal for chai thats way easier to make than other methods. Overall, this chai mix makes a delicious chai. It's not the best chai I've had but through experimentation I can make a delicious cup that certainly fills my chai cravings on cold winter days. I'd recommend it to family and friends. My preferred method is to use more milk than water, more chai than 1/4 teaspoon, and a bit of honey to sweeten things up. It's great in Soy milk with agave. For a quick cup (though not nearly as delicious) water, half and half, and stevia packets. ... show more

I'm not a fan of any of the spices of Chai but when they come together, they can be magical. Every since I had a cup from an Indian market, the place ruined me for all other Chai at Americanized tea/coffee houses. I thought I'd never be able to have Chai at home until on a gamble I bought this brands sample size (.5 oz). It was so good and took me immediately back to the memory of that market Chai. I now have a larger container and I do see what people mean about the peppery-ness of it. I have found that the more milk you add (following directions) the less peppery it gets. It depends on my mood but sometimes I like that kick. It's especially great with vanilla unsweet almond milk too. I've switched to this from coffee for the time being. I really love making chai lattes! I would buy chai tea bags but I wanted a powder! I knew they existed! It was hard to find a powder with no added sugar or any added ingredients. I wanted the pure chai tea and this was it! I was so happy to find a pure tea powder. Making my lattes are soo much easier and faster and the tea is delicious! When it comes to a price comparison I think spending around the same price for the same amount of cups. Another thing that I didn’t think would be convenient is how it’s a small jar compared to storing 3-4 tea boxes of the same amount of cups. This is a very good, very easy chai. Well, it's not as easy as the liquid chai concentrates, but those seem be be 50% sugar. This is a nice compromise because there is no steeping so it is fast, but it has a much better flavor. To me, it's even more convenient than the concentrates because it doesn't have to be refrigerated and it takes up less space. It blends extremely well. I heat water with my electric kettle, pour in my mug, then add the chai powder and with a few stirs, it's quickly and fully blended in. You should know that the flavor is very pepper-forward. You mouth will feel "spicy" after drinking this. My understanding is that this is the traditional flavor profile for "real" chai. I've had others that weren't quite as peppery, and I wish this was a little less so, but it is still very good and I'll likely buy again. I usually mix, then add a roughly eaul part milk to the amount of water. If I want to sweeten it it a bit, I add honey, or for even more decadence, a little bit of sweetened condensed milk. I think the claim this makes "100 cups" is probably an exaggeration. While it's true that you don't need very much, I doubt it will last quite that long, but the small container will certainly last quite a while. If you follow the recipe on the can, you end up with very bland & watery chai. I played with it a bit and found the sweet spot so I thought I would share! I warm 8oz of milk and stir in 2 scoops of chai powder and about a tablespoon of honey. I use a frother to mix very well and to give that “latte” texture and boy, it is delicious! I am very happy with my purchase of Blue Lotus Chai Tea. It is delicious and mixes smoothly into the concoction I create. I was looking for a way to pleasantly ingest the many mushrooms that I take to eradicate cancer. I had discovered that I need to take at least 3 tsp. daily of a mushroom powder to have a potent dose and that heating the mushroom powder helped. I now add Chai tea, a bit of LMNT chocolate caramel electrolytes, monk fruit extract, the mushroom powders, and hot water. This Chi Mix is the closest flavor to Chi I drank while living in India. I liked the flavor of it, and it mixed well. Unfortunately I could not use it as it had way too much pepper in it and it burned my throat as I have sensitive tissues.
