My photos don't look much like bike wheels, but this is how we used one string of lights. We safety pinned them to the back of this Jimmy Buffet flag used in a golf cart parade. My photos show the flag from front and back so the lights can be seen. The lights are quite bright and showed through the fabric of the flag. The small lights were on the setting where they constantly phased through all the available colors. The other available options are to have a single color on and flashing, or a single color on steadily. We chose the changing colors. As can be seen in my photos, the lights show through well -- and this was a daytime photo, while the parade was at night where they showed up even better. For use in bicycle wheels, the light strings are very lightweight, so the lights won't affect the handling of the bike. Placing the battery pack near the hub should also alleviate any problem with the wheel balance, as the battery pack is also quite light. There was no problem with the batteries running down over the several hours before, during and after the parade. ... show more

    • Very disappointed!
While it's wonderful to see all the different color choices, I mostly just wanted yellow. It is recommended that you have white headlights, red tail lights and amber or yellow lights on the sides. So I saw yellow listed and ordered this expecting to not ever use any of the other color choices. White would have been my second choice. This lists the following colors: Red, Green, Blue, Purple, Yellow, Light-Blue and White. That is not what you get. I got red, forest green, deep blue, pink, Kelly green, medium blue and light blue. There was no yellow and no white. So not only did I not get my first choice of color but I didn't even get my second and both were listed as included colors. I don't know if this was a design change and they simply didn't bother to update the advertisement or if they just didn't think anyone would notice that Kelly green is not yellow and light blue is not white. My next disappointment is that contrary to what the advertisement states and photos show (or at least imply) this will NOT fit adult bicycles. I installed this exactly as per instructions on my 26" bicycle and pulled all the wiring as tight as instructed. There is a six inch gap along the rim where the lights go with no lights. I have to say that this will not fit any bicycle over 24 inches. My third disappointment is that contrary to the advertisement, this DOES require at least one tool. I had to use needle nose pliers to pop the plastic clips onto the spokes to hold the wiring in place. I actually had a gentleman with me who is in his twenties and is an athlete who assisted me with that part and after the fourth clip he said they hurt his fingers and recommended pliers. I couldn't get the first clip on and I'm no slouch either. My spokes are standard mountain bike spokes, not especially thick and certainly no thicker than the dozen or so different bicycles I have owned in the last 25 years. It took me over an hour, WITH HELP to get just one on the front wheel. I'm not convinced it is worth the effort for me to put one on the rear wheel. Also, I had to use a screw driver to open the battery case, neither me nor my friend the athlete could pry it open otherwise. So that's TWO tools I had to use. If you can get over these issues, if you are installing this on a 24" bike or smaller, if you can live without yellow and white lights, this might work for you. The lights re certainly bright enough. They all flash on and off as advertised. The effect of the lights flashing as the wheel is rotating is stunning. But none of these positive things make up for what is lacking as I've stated. Bottom line, deceptive advertisement incorrectly states useable size range, ease of installation and colors included. For the above reasons I had to deduct three stars from my rating. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My 8 year old son was so excited to receive these lights and couldn’t wait to get them on his bike! He had everyone in the neighborhood commenting on how cool they are. Unfortunately, my son broke the back lights (he had started riding his bike before I had a chance to finish the back tires and got them all tangled up so that’s why he only has the lights on the front). I told him that I’ll buy him another set. My grandson liked them too and he wants some for his bike. I highly recommend watching the video that helps explain how to install them. It really helps, trust me. It’s not that difficult to put them on, just tedious but well worth it. There are different modes to set the lights (steady, flashing, etc.) I highly recommend this item! It’s fun and the lights are super bright and helps drivers aware especially if you ride your bike at night. ... show more

installed them on my bike and one set isn't working properly. Only 3 of the 7 lights work and my calls to the company have not been returned

    • Not user friendly
My town does a "Bike the Lights" every December and I've always admired the bikes with fun wheel lights. So, I was excited to get this set! Oof. Little did I know what I was in for! First of all, I thought they were broken. I hit the on switch repeatedly and they would not come on! Finally, I changed batteries and really punched the button. You have to really punch the button so deep that you think you might break it and hold it. Not only that, you're going to need to do that 4-5 times before it actually comes on. And it still doesn't come on every time. Sometimes, they just randomly turn off, too! Ok, I got the testing done, now to install. Instructions were fairly limited, so I did my best to follow the included pictures. I finally got the battery pack screwed on to the spokes. Then began the wire wrapping. The wire holders, that "pop" on to the spokes did NOT pop on. I think my thumb is bruised from installing them on ONE wheel. That's right. I gave up before finishing. This set of lights did NOT go all the way around my adult bike wheel. It was lacking about 5 more spoke lengths. I like the many different colors and the options of steady or flashing, but really, installation is such a bear. And when they don't consistently turn on when you hit the button, I just am not a fan. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. It does take some time to install, but that is expected. Installation is easy, though, with clear instructions. Once on, it stays put, looks great, it has several color options, flashing and solid, and one color changing option. Con: it does not remember your last color setting when you turn it off and on.
